b g HEAD HUNTER, a declared starter in the above race, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on the morning of Saturday, 12th September, 2015 and found to be lame on right fore. Under the circumstances the gelding was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. Tr. Rutherford Alford was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

Prior to the running of the race Tr. Farley Rodrigues informed the Stipendiary Stewards that his charge b f ANNIE OAKLEY (Surjeet Singh) will be ridden in “check” just off the early pace during the early and middle stages of the race and that the similar instructions will be given for the filly’s future runnings.

BONGANI (Rajinder Singh) was fractious while being stalled.

ANNIE OAKLEY (Surjeet Singh) jumped awkwardly from the gates.

Passing the distance post BONGANI (Rajinder Singh) under pressure with the whip drifted to the outer portion of the race track. At a subsequent enquiry Jockey Rajinder Singh was shown the CCTV replay of the race and fined a sum of Rs. 1,500/- for the improper use of the whip in that he made no attempt to correct the outward drift of the mare which was clearly shying away from the use of the whip. The jockey was further cautioned that should he continue to rider in a similar manner in future, appropriate action will be taken against him and that he was to report to Mr. P Alford, Jockey Coach, for guidance.
