For accepting with his charge b g EQUATOR in the above race while under medication, Tr. Vijay Singh was fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/-. Subsequently the gelding was permitted to be withdrawn.

UPTROWN GIRL (App Zarar Alam) was fractious while being stalled.

COMBINED OPERATION (Imran Chisty) and LEANDRO (Rajinder Singh) were slow to begin.

MAHARAANA (A Ashhad Asbar) which was fractious while being stalled was slow to begin losing approximately 2-3 lengths at the start and was observed to negotiate the bend wide from the field. An enquiry had been opened into the running and riding of ch c MAHARAANA. During the course of enquiry Jockey A Ashhad Asbar when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount stated that he was instructed to be well positioned in the early and middle stages of the race but he was unable to follow instructions due to the colt not taking a level start. However, in his endeavour to improve its position he encouraged his mount with the whip soon after the start and it responded by running too freely and therefore he had to maneuver to the outside of the field to avoid running into the heels of the other runners. Thereafter while negotiating the bend the colt was inclined to hang ‘outwards’ in spite of his best efforts to keep it on an even course. Trainer Mr. R W Alford when questioned corroborated the instructions as stated by the jockey and added that while the colt had on occasions been a lethargic starter he was surprised that his charge had behaved in this fashion today i.e., losing some ground at the start and running wide in spite of the jockey’s best efforts. The Stipendiary Stewards having impounded the colt for veterinary examination was informed by the Veterinary Officer that the colt on examination after the race was trotting sound but on touch to the right fore was reflexive to pain. The colt was once again examined the following morning and found to be lame on right fore with severe pain on the outside splint. Under the circumstances the Stipendiary Stewards decided to close the enquiry. Tr. R W Alford was informed not to accept with his charge until certified by the Veterinary Officer.

Approaching the 900 metres LEANDRO (Rajinder Singh) was inconvenienced when carried wide by MAHARAANA (A Ashhad Asbar) which shifted ‘outwards’.

The Veterinary Officer reported that PASSIONATE returned bleeding from left nostril. Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.
