Racing Incidents

NORSK (Hindu Singh) was fractious in its stall.

POWER OF FREEDOM (Afzal Khan), XLITE (Shezad Khan), SECRET BUILDER (Vinay Jaiswal) and SOLID STEEL (Md Islam) were slow to begin.

Jockey Md. Islam, the rider of SOLID STEEL, reported that his left rein snapped soon after jumping out from the gates and consequently he brought the filly to a halt approaching the 600 metres. Subsequent examination revealed that the equipment was well maintained and as such, no action was taken beyond noting the incident.

Tr. Patrick Quinn and Jockey Y S Srinath when questioned regarding the poor performance of b f LAMREI, Jockey Srinath stated that :-

a) He was not given any specific instructions by the Trainer as he was familiar with the habits of the filly having ridden her before and also on observing the replay of her mock race held on 25.11.2017.

b) He set a steady pace in the early stages of the race but on approaching the 600 metres the filly was not able to hold her forward position in spite of his best efforts.

On questioning Tr. Patrick Quinn corroborated the Jockey’s statements and he could give no plausible explanation for the poor performance of his charge. The Stipendiary Stewards while noting their explanations informed Mr. Patrick Quinn to keep his charge under observation and report ailment, if any.
