ASMITA (Nikhil Naidu) was fractious in its stall.

SWANLITE (App P Vikram, drawn 4) which was fractious while being stalled jumped awkwardly ‘inwards’ from the gates and inconvenienced GLENDOWER (Md Islam, drawn 3) which had to be checked by its rider and lost some ground.

The Stipendiary Stewards reported Jockey Mohit Singh and Tr. Jasbir Singh to the Stewards for the unsatisfactory running and riding of b c ROXOR. The Stewards held an enquiry after the last race and interviewed Jockey Mohit Singh and Tr. Jasbir Singh.

a)    Jockey Mohit Singh stated that he was instructed to place his mount in 3rd/4th position and do his best but not punish the colt unnecessarily. Since he was carrying top weight he did not exert pressure on the colt till entering the straight.

b)    Tr. Jasbir Singh corroborated the instructions given to the Jockey and stated that he was fully satisfied with the running and riding of his charge.

The Stewards after viewing the CCTV replay of the race and taking into consideration the opinion expressed by the Stipendiary Stewards found :-

a)    Jockey Mohit Singh guilty of unsatisfactory riding of his mount b c ROXOR (Rule 161(ii) of the RCTC Rules of Racing) in that soon after the start he made no effort to place his mount in a
 
forward position as instructed, thereby placing the colt in a disadvantageous position. Further during the middle stages of the race he failed to improve his position when he had every opportunity to do so thus continuing to place his mount in a position of disadvantage and on entering the straight he failed to infuse adequate vigour to his riding which could be best described as feeble. Therefore the Stewards decided to suspend Jockey Mohit Singh from riding in races from Friday, 11th October to Tuesday, 31st December, 2019 (both days inclusive).

b)    Mr. Jasbir Singh guilty of the unsatisfactory running of his charge b g ROXOR (Rule 161(ii) of the RCTC Rules of Racing) in that he condoned every action of the Jockey who placed his charge in a position of disadvantage especially knowing that the race was a sprint run over (about) 1100 metres. The Stewards decided to fine Tr. Jasbir Singh a sum of Rs. 25,000/-.

Both Tr. Jasbir Singh and Jockey Mohit Singh were informed of their right to appeal.
