Racing Incidents

An objection was lodged by Jockey Akshay, rider of POETS SONG (Placed Second) against CAPTAIN (C. S. Jodha, Placed First). The reason being, in the last 50 metres, CAPTAIN came on to him and bumped him due to which his filly lost ground and this cost him a certain race.
 
After considering the submissions made by the Jockeys concerned, in conjunction with that of the Stipendiary Stewards and relying on their judgment, the Stewards decided to over-rule the objection.
 
At the start, POETS SONG (Akshay, dr.7) jumped outwards and made contact with CRYSTAL BALL (Bhawani Singh, dr. 9), who in turn went on to TIP TOP TAFFY (D. S. Daman, dr.10).
 
Approaching 800 metres, HEADLINES (Neeraj Rawal) shifted out on to CRISTO BOSS (Shrikant Kamble), inconveniencing the latter.
 
In the last 50 metres, CAPTAIN (C. S. Jodha) shifted in on to POETS SONG (Akshay). On questioning, Jockey C. S. Jodha stated that his mount had hung in despite his efforts. Trainer Faisal A. Abbas has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race the gelding.
 
After the race, POETS SONG was trotted and found to be sound. HUNAYN had lost its left fore plate.
