Trainer Mr. S Narredu and Jockey Suraj Narredu were questioned regarding the running and riding of SPRINT STAR in the above race.

The trainer stated as follows:

a) That he had instructed Jockey Suraj Narredu to ride his own race since he had won on this horse several times.
b) But still considering the top weight it was carrying and the going he had asked Suraj not to hustle his mount, gradually improve and ride out in the straight. Further the horse was running for the second time after a long break due to a tendon problem.
c) In the initial stages the pace was too past and his charge could not keep up with that and further his charge had to be slightly checked during the early part.
d) Considering all the factors and the way the race was run he could not find fault with the riding of Jockey Suraj Narredu and that he was satisfied with his riding.

Jockey Suraj Narredu while corroborating the statement of the trainer as regards instructions and the way the race was run added that he rode out to the best of his abilities but he could finish only third. Their explanations were noted.
