Racing Incidents
Trainer R S Shekhawat and Jockey Saleem were called in and questioned regarding the running and riding of HIGH OPINION. On questioning Trainer R S Shekhawat stated that he had instructed the Jockey to sit close with the front runners or, sit 2nd/ 3rd and do his best to win the race. On questioning Jockey Saleem confirmed the trainers instructions and said he was tired and had no further explanation to offer about his feeble riding. Not being satisfied with the explanation Jockey Saleem was fined Rs.5000/- and directed to appear before the Stewards after the last race. The Stewards rectified the fine of Rs.5000/- imposed by the Stipendiary Stewards and severely warned the Jockey that serious action will be taken in the future for similar circumstances. HIGH OPINION was sent for Veterinary examination and certified sound by the Club’s Sr. veterinary Officer.
