Racing Incidents

ASHWA KAHIRA was withdrawn on compassionate grounds.

PEARL (Abdul Fazal) was withdrawn before coming under Starter’s order as the mare was extremely fractious and refused to be loaded.Trainer A Khan was asked to give sufficient gate practice to the satisfaction of the Starter before next accepting to race.

At the start MIGHTY (K Narender Kumar) was slowly away. JET RAFLE (Khet Singh) was restless and jumped out throwing its head and was slow to begin.

JET RAFLE (Khet Singh) was inclined to lean inwards in the straight. Trainer S Nawab has been asked to take remedial measures before next accepting to race.

Jockey Khet Singh was questioned with regard to his riding on JET RAFLE. The Jockey explained that the horse reared up as the start was affected. And he was able to be in good position and gelding lugged in in the straight so he had to balance his mount and ride out. When questioned about the behavior during the jump out, the Jockey stated that he has a habit of doing this and in Race no. 18 also he had jumped out in a similar manner. The Jockey was specifically asked about the manner of jump out and it was put to the Jockey that the gelding was not playing up when inside the Stall and when the Gates opened, the horse threw his head as the reins would have been short. The start of the race was repeatedly viewed and it was observed that the Blind-fold was dislodged from the face of the horse as it swayed his head in the Gate. After some time, the Jockey agreed that he had the reins short since the horse does run outwards and to prevent his mount from doing so. It was put to the Jockey that the gelding did not hang that bad he could not ride out since he was able to keep his mount away from going on to RAXION who was on his inside. The Jockey was asked whether he had informed about the gelding hanging-in to the Trainer, to which he stated that he had not. The Jockey was reprimanded for not reporting to the Trainer about this.

After having heard the submissions of the Jockey, he has been given benefit of doubt in this case and has been warned that on repetition of a similar riding, action could be initiated against him.

Jockey K Narender Kumar (MIGHTY) was questioned with regard to his riding effort in the early and middle stages of the race, wherein the Jockey was observed to have not ridden his mount in those stages. The Instructions were to be in 3rd, 4th or 5th position. The mare slowly away, he niggled and the mare became keen and then stopped again. He rode from 800 metres and kept improving on the bunch that he was racing with and then rode out in straight. The Jockey agreed that the mare responded when he had asked for an effort near 400 metres. It was put to the Jockey that was content to sit for 700 to 800 metres, and how does he expect the mare to perform, to which he had no plausible response. The race was viewed.
Not being satisfied with the explanation of the Jockey, he has been fined Rs.5,000/- for failing to persevere with his mount during the race and severely reprimanded that on a repetition of a similar riding in future, the matter may be reported to the Stewards.

Trainer Ajay Sharma was questioned with regard to the running of his charge MIGHTY. The Trainer was informed that Jockey K Narender Kumar was questioned and his responses were not found satisfactory and therefore, he has been called. The instructions were to be brush up for

50 metres and be in 3rd, 4th or 5th position and to do his best in the straight. He stated he had asked the Jockey about the slow start as the mare had not done so before and he had not pushed in the early part of the race. The Jockey had reported that he was 5th, 6th but the mare did not give much response. He added that he was not satisfied with the mare’s race. The Jockey had not followed the instructions but for that he had given me the reason that the mare was slowly away. To a question, the Trainer stated that he has not been satisfied with this Jockey in the past also and he is not satisfied in this race. The Trainer was informed that he has to be responsible for the running of his horses and if he was not satisfied with the riding of the Jockey, he must lodge a complaint. He is being unsatisfied when he has been called for the enquiry. Every horse in the race must be ridden to obtain the best possible place in a race and MIGHTY was not ridden to obtain the best possible place.
Not being satisfied with the explanation of the Trainer, he has been fined Rs.3,000/- for his negligence in discharge of his duties as a Trainer.

Jockey SG Prasad (RAXION) was questioned with regard to his riding in the straight on his mount. The Instructions were to be in 4th or 5th position and to do his best in the straight. He was in 4th position and he had horses in front so he waited as he did not want to travel wide. As he came in to the straight, the gap opened along the rails which he took but the mare did not respond well enough. He added that RAXION had won her races while racing away from the rails. Race no. 18 was viewed where she had finished 2nd, the mare was not along the rails. The Jockey was informed that his riding was feeble in the straight to which he stated that the mare did not respond and did not improve. He added that he had worked the mare and she does not perform the same way as she shows in work. It was put to the Jockey he has started to ride out his mount little late as compared to the front Riders to which the Jockey stated that the mare was not improving but he has been niggling at her. The explanation of the Jockey was noted.

Jockey Jai Parkash (PLAYER) was questioned with regard to his riding in the early part and in the middle stages of the race, wherein the Jockey was observed to have snatched at his mount on a few occasions after the start up to the 1000 metres Marker for no apparent reason and thereafter not making sufficient efforts to get in an advantageous position. The Instructions were be in 5th or 6th position, do your best. He explained that he had checked his mount as he felt that something had gone wrong with the horse, the horse threw his head as if the horse had been clipped by another horse or something like that. But when he felt that the horse was striding well, he pushed the horse and used the whip also and that he had ridden out his mount. The race was viewed and it was observed that there was no horse behind PLAYER at the stage where the Jockey claimed that his mount was clipped and the horse had clear run.
Not being satisfied with the explanation of the Jockey, he has been fined Rs.5,000/- for failing to persevere with his mount during the race and severely reprimanded that on a repetition of a similar riding in future, the matter may be reported to the Stewards.

After the race MISS ZACHARY was referred for veterinary examination and the mare was found to be lame by her right-foreleg. Trainer was asked to obtain veterinary certificate of fitness before presented his charge for any future trial or race.
