Racing Incidents

KAFTAN ( R Rakesh) was slowly away at the start, losing about two lengths.

Trainer A Khan and Jockey CS Jodha were questioned regarding the running and riding of ASHWA HAITHER. Trainer A Khan stated that he had instructed Jockey CS Jodha to settle the horse in fourth position and to do his best in the straight. When asked about his observation

he stated that jockey had followed his instructions and felt that if he had sat little closer, would have been better however he was satisfied with jockey’s riding.
Jockey CS Jodha confirmed the instructions and stated that he had followed the instructions and done his best, race replay was shown and it was pointed out that at about 800meters he had given long lead to the three front runners and which had costed him the race as the verdict was only a head between the winner and himself. Further even in straight his riding was not vigorous as per his caliber, jockey CS Jodha stated that his horse was not responding and in the final stages the front runners were dropping and therefore it looked that he gained ground further since he had settled his mount in early part his mount kept gaining the ground.

Not being satisfied with the explanation of the jockey the matter was reported to the stewards.

The Stewards after the last race considered the Stipendiary Stewards report and viewed the replay of the race and having heard explanation by trainer A Khan and Jockey CS Jodha, were not satisfied with the jockey’s submission and held him guilty of INCOMPETENT RIDING wherein he created a considerable gap with the front runners in a 1100 meters race and were also of the opinion that he had not ridden vigorously in the straight , which deprived his mount a winner’s position as the verdict was of a head between him and the winner.

The Stewards deliberated and decided to fine a sum of Rs. 20,000/- to jockey CS Jodha for INCOMPETENT RIDING.

Trainer A Khan was cautioned to give more clear and specific instructions for advantage of horses in the future.

Jockey CS Jodha was reminded of his right to appeal.

After the race, MERCI BEAUCOUP ( App. Vivek G) was observed to have broken a blood vessel and is not to race for a stipulated period of 8 weeks (2nd time). Trainer Magan Singh has been asked to obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to his charge being presented for any future trial or race.
