The Rajesh Narredu-nursed filly Excellent Lass from Bangalore is likely to start as the favourite in the Race2Win.Com sponsored Deccan Derby (Gr.1), the star attraction of the monsoon racing season hosted by the Hyderabad Race Club. A field of eleven three-year old horses will be vying for honours in this group one event. Suraj Narredu-ridden Excellent Lass is by far the best performed horse in the line-up having finished second to Santissimo in the Bangalore Summer Derby run over a mile and quarter and later having won the Mysore 1000 Guineas last month. The other candidates who merit consideration are Laxman Singh-trained Duke of Tuscany, Darius Byramji- schooled Elfin Knight and Alpha Seeker from Pesi Shroff’s yard. Trevor Patel, A. Sandesh and G. Vivek will be seen in action atop Duke of Tuscany, Elfin Knight and Alpha Seeker respectively.
