     Ooty races look easier to pick from outside but not really when it mattes the most. Only two of my seven selections for place (Hadar and Helleborus) came right and that shows it's not proving cake walk for race-goers at this Centre too. But lot of genuiness seems to have crept in, although rider Umesh looked like taking punters for a ride in the 4th and 7th races by finishing last on favourites?

     As a Sports Reporter, I have covered Chennai and Ooty racing many years during the early '90s. I must admit that I slowly slipped into betting only because of my profession and Ooty is one centre that I used to love to gamble as unlike many other centres, here you can at least look for your money to return in most races. Today's Ooty races are not what they were in the '90s, a period that remained a "One Man Army". However, I keep a close watch on the races and feel amazed to find several races allowed to run on merit. There are many stables that strain a lot to be on the money. That way I submit my following selections ONLY FOR PLACE. This is for the first time that I am present a full race card selection after I quit betting in 2014. Hope and wish I have not lost the touch in ascertaining merit. Let's see. Let me repeat the following are ONLY FOR PLACE.

Race No.1 : OCTAVAIAN (This animal doesn't belong to this class anymore and is ideally suited for the distance. Shud be on the board in the hands of Brisson)

Race No.2 : FUN LOVER (Trainer Craig Marshall is one from the outstation to watch. Rider Ajeeth Kumar is bound to do justice)

Race No.3 : WELCOME PRINCESS (Umesh is the darling of the crowd wherever he goes. What can stop this Princess from being in the front all the way?)

Race No.4 : DAIYAMONDO (The real  'dark horse' in the entire race card. You just can't afford to ignore this animal and can look forward to Ajaykumar doing a neat job on this Marshall's ward)

Race No.5 : GLORIOUS LILLY (One of the horses that merits serious attention. The Sebastian-Brisson combo can come here handy again)

Race No.6 : HADAR (Hiding behind the clouds for quite some time. Rohit gets a good chance to move forward on this Sebastian's ward)

Race No.7 : HELLEBORUS (No Ooty race card can be complete without a comfortable win for the major stable and the grand old Robert Foley will see Akshay Kumar performing a beauty on this lovely horse)
