Back to listsHong Kong Races?
By Raghavan | 22-May-2020The last race day for Indians was 12/3/2020. Today is the 71st day of no racing. Punters are frustrated. There would have been 45+ day's races after 12/3/20; BNG summer would have been started; Mysore summer also would have been started.
Punters are ready to bet even if races are held at Lucknow!
One horsetalk member has suggested a trip to Hong Kong, and also a tie up with reputed bookmaker so that he can bet on races at Hong kong. I do not know whether there are bookmakers at Hong kong. Anyway, best of luck to that punter. There are several replies to his posts welcoming such move. And some also desire to join that punter in betting on races abroad.
1000 best wishes to the team. May be, by the time they are able to sign up with a bookmaker, another 10 or 15 members also will join the team.
Now, this can be the best side effect of no racing situation in India. There were races at Hong kong, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Newzealand,, England, France, Canada, South Africa & America for 100 years or more. But no one thought of betting on those races till date. The horsetalk member has spoken about races in Hong kong only because of no races in India. There may be other members who desire to bet on races in other countries too.
One thing that I can say is races in the countries I have mentioned are 100 times cleaner than races in India. And will be much more rewarding provided the punters are able to pick up winners. BUT, WILL THE PUNTERS ABLE TO PICK WINNERS? If they are really talented and bet on right horses (strike rate 33% or above), they can definitely boast of a healthy bank balance, one year from now.
Now, let us speak of ground reality! I do not know about their betting volume in India and the winnings. One punter boasts of a win in million every 2nd day. I have demolished his bogus claims. But, generally speaking, I warn everyone who is desirous of betting on races abroad. Betting is a losing proposition even in India where the number of horses are 7 or still less in 50% of races. Whereas, the average runners per race in foreign countries may be 12. We are hearing about very high payouts in the triple trio pool at Hong kong. There are several intances where pay out is more than 2 crore yens in trinella pool at Japan. If the punter is really rich, and desires to improve his bank balance, then there is no harm in betting a small amount on these pools occasionally. GS has spoken about his fairly good ROI in races in India but flop show in races abroad. .
But, if he desires to bet on a regular basis, then he shall in near future end up with coconut shells. Excuse me for being blunt! I could have posted this in that thread itself. But, the author desired only positive responses and was having no patience to those posts that are boorish/negative.
Wait for races to resume in India. I am generally pessimist. But we are hearing some positive comments on this by S K Sagar, Poonawalla etc. So, till mid july put up with this lockdown!
