Best Tracks To Bet Around The World

By Sudheer | 24-Sep-2021

As bet365 is available to the Indian punters, I really found this topic should be discussed among the people to share their views.. Till 2021, I used sportsbet.io or betway and satsport to bet on different races and as bet365 is operating and with fast withdrawals shifted to bet365..

With infinitely huge choice of betting on horse racing I would like to know which tracks would have better success rates and easy to do the form..

My choice of preference is as follows

1. Hongkong

2. India

3. Singapore

4. South Africa

I tried doing the form all over the world.. there were some days when I did form for 30 to 40 races and placed bets.. Eventually I found the above 4 countries to be the best to back horses..

First of all I would like to tell you why I found why UK and Australia races hard.. Both have many race tracks and different conditions.. the variables are too many to consider. Evaluating form under different tracks can be really tricky.. Atleast I found it to be difficult..

Why I chose the 4 countries above to bet and why the order of preference was like that

1. Hongkong : The value for picking a horse even to run a place is best around the world.. the pools are soon big and hence the dividends too.. exotics like you can never imagine. So is it possible to pick horses in hongkong? Definitely yes because they only race on 2 tracks Shatin and Happyvalley. They provide every information you need. You can check the trackwork video too to see how ready is your horse. Turf racing is predominant in hongkong and officially no bookmakers in hongkong and everything goes through tote so most of the racing would be fair. Because or the dividends, information available about horses and only two tracks to run I consider this as the best center to wager your bets all among the world.. if you are good at doing form you will be very successful and will get great value to your hardwork.

2. India: Everyone knows about Indian racing.. I only put it ahead of singapore and South Africa because of the lack of competition.. and horses races predominantly in their parent centers which makes easy to do the form. The value on winners is the lowest here as bookmakers don't follow the conventional rule of odds.. The ROI in racing is worst here in India. The conventional rule of odds is the horse should be 1/5th on win odds for place if there are 10 runner or less and 1/4th if 11 runners or more unless there's a horse with a win odds less than half money.. The ridiculous tax of 10% makes punters life a living hell.. say your horse is 2/1 for win and tax of 10%. If you back it at 2/1 and win, you will get 15000 back for an investment of 5500 that effectively makes the odds close to 17/10. 80 paisa place effectively yields 64paisa.. So this is a day light robbery.. maximum odds I see for a horse are mostly 20/1 and thats ridiculous too.. So the chance of winning for a punter is very very very little.. we see 50p place for a 5/ 1 horse and that too with tax.. we are crazy to take the odds and back the horse.. always remember 17/10 without tax is better than 2/1 with tax.. its not the other way.. The main reason for a punter being not successful in india is not because of the connections or eating or something else.. its only because of the un regularized odds and no rules to regularize them.. so the best way to win India is not by backing horses but laying horses for place.. a person who knows a little bit math will easily identifies it and start laying horses rather than backing them at ridiculous odds.. I would write a separate article on the odds in india in a very detailed manner..

Singapore: Kranji is the only track that makes life easier.. dirt racing is predominant in singapore but I keep myself to the turf racing only.. one more negative is too many class 5 races in which it's too hard to find winners.. so there will be limited races to actually back but success rate will be good and with moderate returns..

South Africa: if you are absolutely free, and has nothing to do you can always bet on South Africa races as you will have racing action on almost everyday apart from on Christmas day.. many tracks in South Africa but I always observed that the local horses has an advantage.. dont ask me why because I have no idea why..races runs true to form and you will have moderate returns for your investment...

I really welcome to suggest me more tracks with less variables to bet.. I wont be betting on Australian or UK races as I have limited ability in picking winners there.. suggest me turf races with less variables... Thank you

Hi

@ Anil Xk

You rightly mentioned about clockwise and anti clockwise racing in Australia. Out of 6 states only 2 states conduct clockwise racing :

1 . New South Wales (Nsw)

    Capital - Sydney - CLOCKWISE

     Major track's - Royal Randwick

Rosehill Gardens

Warwick farm

Canterbury Park

2. Queensland

Capital - Brisbane - CLOCKWISE

Major track's - Doomben Eagle Farm

3. Victoria

Capital - Melbourne - ANTI CLOCKWISE

Major track's- Flemington - Mooney Valley, Caulfield

4. South Australia

Capital - Adelaide - ANTI  CLOCKWISE

Major track - Morphetville

5. Western Australia

Capital -Perth - ANTI CLOCKWISE

Major track's - Ascot

Belmont Park

6. Tasmania

Capital - Hobart - ANTI CLOCKWISE

Major track - Elwick / Hobart

Racing in Northern Territories is also Anti clockwise. - Darwin

I have just mentioned metropolitan tracks in their respective states in their Capital cities.

My order of preference in following racing in Australia :

1  Sydney & Melbourne ( This is like Mumbai & Bangalore ) - Topnotch racing - Best of Australia .

2. Brisbane

3. Perth & Adelaide are at same level .

4. Tasmania & Darwin are a waste of time.

Thanks & Regards

Australian racing to be assessed with a mind that tomorrow also race continues.

Why I said so, is 2/3 tracks in Australia are anti clockwise and 1/3 rd tracks are running clockwise, There is enough variety of tracks available in Australia to confuse punters. So it is important to select one or two powerful stables to bet with.

Second point to be noted is the Jockey groups

They are divided into Platinum, gold, green, yellow classes. Selection of riders in group3 and above is based in this class concept.

Traveling jockies is the best to bet for longer odds, Stationed jockies at particular centre are centre of every adjustments .

Odds and pre betting trend.

Analysing odds drift and heavy bettors at some extent can find a horse. But overall racing in Australia is a business running on floating billions , so winner will surely touch with good odds to compensate expenses. Below 75 paise favourites are winning as low as 9% over all.

Hi Sudheer.

Its good to learn about good tracks to bet on. I agree with you that Hongkong is one of the best tracks to follow racing. I will just offer you a basic insight into Australian racing as have been living there and following their racing for the last 20 yrs. Yes as you  said Australian racing is difficult. To understand basics of Australian racing you have to first understand that there are 3 tiers in Aussie racing.

1. Metropolitan Racing - held in leading cities like Sydney,Melbourne,Brisbane,Adelaide, Perth. With high stake money and quality horseflesh its the best attracting the best of trainers, owners & jockeys.

2. Provincial racing - Its held in the provinces or 2nd tier towns. With lower stake money it attracts smaller owner, trainers and horses with a bit lower potential.

3. Country Racing - with comparatively very low stakes and held in  country towns in rural areas.ofcourse the quality of horses , jockeys, trainers is also not upto metropolitan class.

You have to identify which track you are following or betting on. Racing is held for 363 days a year barring Good Friiday & Christmas.

The best of metropolitan racing is held on Saturday & wednesday. Saturday being the best of racedays in a week.

Australian racing is at par with the best in the world. Australia being a major producer of thorough breds you will see a majority of horses from Aus & Newlzealand in Hongkong. As an owner if your horse wins a couple of races as a 2/3 year old and shows future potential ,owners from Hongkong line up with lucrative offers to buy them.

Well I can go on and on being a racing freak. Thats is for today. Ofcourse my views can differ from others but this being a forum to discuss racing , just thought of putting my views across.

Thanks & Regards.

@Sudheer

South African races are run true to form is the best joke of the decade

I prefer greyhounds or a roulette game than South African racing

Guys don't waste your hard earned money on South African races it's pure fixing and gambling the bookies and connections run the show there

No handicapping works there

If you want to make money in South African races try eating favourites but at your own risk

Sudheer,

A detailed and well explained article. A few points that I would like to suggest.

HKJ is definitely the best race center, with one of the best website ,giving all racing inputs to do form study.

Australia,if one follows Victoria,comes next.

In both the above, I found the racing reasonably fair, and very decent odds, and that is saying a lot.

Thanks

The betting app in the buisiness for horse racing is 365 .. as all other app follows .. the best centers are UK and US for punters point of view.

UK you will get good value to your bet .. even place bet worthy enough. In US you should have patience to wait to see the market in the last minute.  More percentage (38%) of well backed horses wins .. But note number of runners  in majority of US centers in each race will be low .. Better option or advice is to play win/place as yoi will get place odds arround 60p to even money ..

HK looks the best but getting winners very difficult .. SA even stevens.  where as australia good each way bets are better than following favourites.

 All the best

Dear Sudheer,

Horse racing is a game of skill. No any turf provides easy winners through out year. There is no sure bet turfs in the world, the punter must earn skills to break the nut using/ developing  his skills. In India favorite is winning near to 30%, but in hkjc it is below 16%. Delhi giving the best number of favourite winners ( around 31%)but considered as inferior centre. Bangalore giving an average of near to 21% favourite winners.

Each centre running, rider selection, track preparation all different and affect the result. It is not a blind man game but a very energetic game.

( I remember Fusaishi Pegasus running in 2000 Kentucky Derby, I am at Tokyo related with my work, almost all the bars and pubs are displayed his pic well before derby, even japanese book makers are giving immediate pay out of bet before two days of actual race)

How it is explainable....racing is not histeria.. but it is religion...

Bet365 is not available for Indian citizens legally though you can do through third party like skrill or netteller.
