So far, I have not played lay bets.  Of course, the only reason is my supreme indifference with bookies.  So, I will try to explain what Joker meant,  I may be wrong.  

Let us say Silver steps was quoted 40ps for place.  Joker laid that horse for place at 60ps.  What he meant was he paid  6000/- in advance to the bookies. 

The horse did not finish in place.

So, Joker won the bet.  The bookie gave him 16k, including his bet of 6k.

Hope my explanation is correct.  Shall be pleased if some "eat" specialist gives his input.

I have given explanation taking what Joker has said at face value.  He has not mentioned that he is laying that horse earlier.  (Before the race).

Now, are you having doubt about Joker eating Silver steps for place?  Then your doubt is valid. 

But, in that case your statement of saving 8k can also be questioned.  You said you did not bet Silver steps for place.  But such statements after the race is over is always questionable.

SILVER STEPS was never more than 38 paisa for place....Mr joker....which bookie gave you 60 paisa place for a horse that was 16/10 for win.i wonder 

In fact such a low odds helped me save 8 k..

Silver Steps place@60p n played Mysterious girl place@evns so a good profiy

Kirkines place @50p as was pretty confident it would not be in top 2 but played Galloping Glory place@1.75. So a minor profit

Laid Zucarelli@90p n backed Juliette@2.25 so an amazing profit

But lost a huge sum on Arabian Phoenix n Mysticism

The Zucarelli  race got me to break evns n make a small profit though. 

But even that could you come back to hote me if Zucarelli wouldn't hv broken a blood vessel.

 your first statment should be your last statement?  Maybe you play only 2k but for what reason you change mind- under spontaneous act..and that is way many ppls say..our actual pick and selected amount can change by watching odd and we lose control ..so focus on only strike rate and not on winning amount..

You expected Silver steps to run as 2nd or 3rd favorite with odds at 4/1 for win & around 80ps or 90ps for place.

But, Silver steps opened at 1.75 favorite & you were not inclined to bet 8k at 35ps for place.

Right approach.  Too many punters do not bet at that odds.  But, there are some place specialists in BTC.  They play for place even the horses quoted at 40ps for win.  Only at tote.

During the last 1 1/2 months, too many punters have ruined themselves by betting odds on favorites for win.  The latest example is Ashwa Bravo at Delhi.

So, you saved 8k today.  My suggestion is save 7k OR 8k every day.  You can bet 2k or 3k for win and forget about place.  Place bet is justified if the win odds quoted on the horse is 4/1 or above.  Do not quote the examples of Myway-or-hughway OR castlerock to claim that place betting on those horses helped you to recover the loss on win bet.  

You have taken a royal oath to not present your Profit & Loss account hereafter.  This is also a right approach.

There are many tipsters giving their selection/s in this site, but hardly anyone gives his profit or loss account.  A lot of controversies could have been avoided if you had not spoken about your profit amount.

Notwithstanding your profit during the last 20 days, I continue to maintain that in horse betting a punter will surely be in loss.  He may bet one horse a day or one horse a week.  OR one horse in a fortnight.  He will be under loss only.  Forget about Turfite or Raghavan.  Even if Brahma, Vishhnu or Shankara comes to the race course and bet, they will also return to heavens with big loss only.

I have spoken to several hundreds of punters during the last 30 years and get the same answer.  They are in loss.  In fact, they have abandoned the idea of winning huge amount/s in race course.  They dutifully present at race course with the hope of winning back the previous two or three day's loss.  One day they will return home smiling.  Like Bangalore races on Friday 23rd.  Whatever they had won on that day was returned to bookies with interest  (meter buddy) on Saturday & Sunday.

I have observed this many a times and maybe I'm proved correct tomorrow. Jockey Mustakim Alam has 9 winners and needs one more to get a whip.

He has two excellent rides tomorrow (Daulat Mai and Majestic Warrior).

DM might open as a fav as it won going away in the lower class last week however, I feel he would get real good odds on Majestic Warrior and the horse should win, giving the connections real good returns on their wager and the young lad his 10th winner.

I would recommend MAJESTIC WARRIOR each ways as a good wager for the day. Cheers

The odds for  Shroff's 6(1) Zuccarelli is 50/100. I enquired with my bookie. So forget it. It will win.

So shroff has to win somewhere else also . It could be 5(7) Sunrise.
