Lady trainer Parvati Byramji, wife of leading trainer Darius Byramji passed away at her home in Bengaluru in the evening on Thursday, May 8, reportedly following a cardiac arrest. She was 45.

Parvati, daughter in law of the legendary trainer Rashid Byramji in her brief career made a mark for herself recording a good number of classic victories, both at her home centre (Bengaluru) and the top racing centre (Mumbai).

Trainer S S Shah has announced his retirement after 55 years with a license at the age of 87 on Sunday, March 23. Veteran trainer SS Shah completing 55 years of training thoroughbreds and leading-in close to a 1000 winners. Shah has been extremely popular over the decades and most of all has been a gentleman to the core. He maintained a high reputation and was one who was rooted to the ground despite several high points in his long and illustrious career. He also enjoyed a decent career as a jockey before taking up his trainers' licence in 1969.
He has a rare distinction of winning back-to-back Indian Derby titles with Hotstepper (2008) and Antonios (2009). Shah had also the pleasure of leading in Amorous Knight who won the Invitation Cup in 1986. He however, may not have won as many classics as he may have wanted to, but he has been prominent among the trainers' list all through the 55 year of his long presence.

Top trainer S Padmanabhan will be back saddling his horses before the start of the Bangalore winter season. The BTC restored his training license this morning after the compromise petition in court. Padmanabhan, it is learnt will saddle a couple of horses during the Derby weekend at Mysore. Here's wishing the senior pro the very best.

Top veteran jockey Pradeep Chouhan after playing a long and commendable innings donning silks has hung up his boots and is starting a new innings as a trainer. The champion rider apart from excelling in his profession also performed creditably as President of JAI. Now that he has donned a new hat, indiarace wishes him the very best in his new endeavour.
