Ashwa Shourya showed his bravery while registering a stunning victory in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Cup at the Delhi races on Friday. Gamati, Dazzling Wise and Before You helped Magan Singh to be at the helm of affairs with identical advantage over Ishwar Singh Parmar while jockey Ramlal was the other triumphant professional to score a double. Coming from behind and scoring effortlessly is generally witnessed in the bigger races but Ashwa Shourya seems to be cut out for that. Lagging close to the field till 300m, it was a difficult task to ascertain a victory but Sameer kept his mind cool and guided the gelding to cash in on the open wide gap among the horses to prove his superiority in the last 100m. "It's certainly quite an amazing achievement," Mrs Anita Chauhan, owner of Ashwa Shourya, said. "Once I was almost disheartened seeing him struggling for the ground but I’ts really an unbelievable gallop that made me enthralled," Anita said. “Credit should also go to the trainer (RS Shekhawat ) who was quite sure about his win over the extended trip”, she added Murban, who drifted out alarmingly in the straight while leading the way, was able to hold Empire Maker off by a neck. The latter, who came from the hind group, got the clear passage very late otherwise the placings would have been changed. Gamati raised the curtain on the 13th Friday but was challenged by Tampa Bay, who could have changed the placing had he not been handled poorly to be short by three-parts-of-a length after making a run from the tailender position. The Ladyisshady spent precious time in shifting the course during the final furlong. Ramlal, who helped Gamati to survive, earned hard-pressed victory on Before You in the later half of the racing. Meanwhile, a close victory of Dazzling Wise over The Boss in the Indo Tibetan Border Police Garhwal Range Plate was the third victor to be saddled by the young Magan Singh, who was the runner-up in the trainer's championship last season. The Boss could have turned the table on Dazzling Wise had he not got into action in the eleventh hour. Enya justified the top billing by completing a hat trick in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Himveer Plate over the mile. Jockey Syed Afsar Shah, who was in the saddle of the victorious filly, rode with great confidence. Middle Man warmed himself late under Sameer. In the lower division of the Indo Tibetan Border Police North east range Plate, Ready To Win got the neck better off Provence, who looked a bit gross. The latter should make amends. The run of Fidel Defensor and First N Impression is best ignored.
