Sonic Boom is in unstoppable form. Yet another victory in the Nandan Plate, which was earmarked for class two horses, enabled him to complete a quardrupple at the Delhi races on Tuesday. Trainer Ishwar Singh Parmar and jockey AJ Nilesh were the only professionals to share a brace each. Cancellation of the previous meeting on the ground of unsatisfactory track conditions caused by torrential rain made the sixth day attract a huge nomination and for the first time in this season a card of seven races was framed. However, there was no respite from hot and humid conditions. Sonic Boom, who started his campaign this season with two wins, was in with rousing form. Coming from midway, he showed off brilliant turn of foot under the guidance of AJ Nilesh, and left the field in the lurch. "He took some time to come to terms after joining my brigade during the last season," Ishwar Singh Parmar told me. "Undoubtedly he has the pedigree but it’s his tendon problem that always kept me under anxiety," Ishwar said. "What I hoped from him, he has been able to execute," Sunil Kumar Verma, the owner of the horse said. "I'm eyeing a class one event from him and I know he is capable of pulling it off," Sunil said. Earlier, the winning combination of Sonic Boom and King’s Power overjoyed everyone with the terrific performance. King’s Power, the dark bay gelding from Mumbai, who was running after a gap of 17 months, made the turf light with his strides. "I was sure about his win the way he was tracking after recovery from the joint problem," Ishwar Singh Parmar, the trainer, told me. “Since he has come to hands, he should reach class," he said. Zuetina heaved a sigh of relief in the day's opener - senior division of the Metropolitan Plate. The mare, who was looking for a long overdue success, was good enough to keep the late challenge of Real Strong at bay. The latter should make amends. Mrignainee showed a clean pair of heels over the mile' Hanging Out Plate. The Dukes had to play the role of second fiddle for the second consecutive day. More Than A Woman's late surge towards end might earn her laurel soon. The run of Beatrice is best ignored. Splendid Man utilised the benefit of handicap and got succeeded in foiling the start-to-finish bid of Gamati in the Asian Age Cup. Polish Beauty, who ran close third, is knocking at the door. There was no match for Enya in the upper division of the Kadambani Plate. She should complete an encore. Taking Over, whose saddle slipped en route to making every post a winning one narrowly against Gandiva, would be able to earn a double. Murban, who ran close third, should soon achieve success.
