Ashwa Prayag Prevails over Turkish Doll

Her horses have made her to be a well-known face on the Delhi racing circuit. In the very second season, Mrs Anita Chauhan-owned youngsters have started making their presence felt after the aged horses who raced to glory during the previous calendar. Adding yet another feather in her cap, Ashwa Prayag notched up a scintillating victory in the year's first "million"' race sponsored by the Jain bookmakers on Tuesday. The day's programme, which was sponsored by the Jain family on the completion of their 100 years in the field of book making, once again saw favourites taking sideways but Quality Assurance. Trainer Magan Singh booted home treble whereas reinmen G s Shekhawat and Irfan Ali shared a brace each. Declaration of the hot favourite Rocking Star unfit to race on the veterinary grounds, made the reduced field of seven an open affair. And the way juveniles ran, it turned out to be true as almost four looked all set to stake a claim inside the final furlong. Enya did the early job until El Toro made the rest to follow him till the top of the home stretch. Meanwhile, Ritambhara took the baton but another 100 m saw Turkish Doll charging home before being engaged in duel with Ashwa Prayag. During the closing stages, Mrignainee looked getting through the shortest way, but Ritambhara soon shifted in and forced the filly to receive a check. "I was not worried about Rocking Star as the erection of false rails was in favour of our horses and it proved vital," Mrs Anita Chauhan, owner, told me. "I inspired Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to keep his moral high as we had nothing to loose and that clicked," Ravi Chauhan, husband and authorised agent of Mrs Anita Chauhan, added. "I appreciate Roopendra Singh Shekhawat who was always by his stand that the extended distance and false rails will definitely suit the gelding," Ravi said. "Hard luck for Mrignainee but better next time out," he added. "Our horses have sense of potential if I am not boasting," said he. It is interesting to note that in the previous outing and over the similar trip, Turkish Doll was a runaway winner against Ashwa Prayag. The son of Placerville and Betfair scored under whip, and will mature into top frame with the time going by. Longer distance will be more favourable for him. If Turkish Doll (Ontario/Argyle Gold) was pushed instead of goading hard during the climax, the event would have been her way. Ritambhara was charged too early. Enya, who was bred in purple, ran against her nature by bolting with the stablemate El Toro. She met with interferences but barring that something was missing. El Toro has the potential to become one of the speediest customers of the centre. The day's opener witnessed a keen tussle between the debutant Zabardast and Doon Boy. The former, who prevailed under hardship of Ramandeep, has the ability to improve. The latter had improved vastly seeing his winning performance over seven furlongs previously. For So Far So Good, the winning post turned out to be so near so far as he finished third after showing out in the straighht. Dazzling Flame once again flopped and it appeared that the gelding badly needed longer distance. Go can strike any good day. In the upper division of the day's opener, Smt Vimla Devi Jain Memorial Cup, Crossways tasted a long overdue victory in a close call. The favourite Super Girl warmed up late. Solitary man is knocking at the door. Quality Assurance eventually found her winning ways by packing the field in the Radhey Lal Jain Memorial cup. She did not seek the support of Tongue-strap and Pacifier blinker. She should complete an encore. The smt Sanjha Bai Jain Memorial cup, which was earmarked for the top class runners, failed to impress sufficient entrants. However, four made the way and handicap advantage favoured Cornelia Supra get her overdue victory. She was off the pace till before the final furlong over the sprinter's distance. Trinity was never allowed to breathe freely by Ruby Rosa and that made the task easy for the eventual ownermate winner. With full of enthusiasm after scoring double on the last race day, Riazuddin guided the fortune of Time Gentlemen in a start-to-finish attempt over 1,400 m. The run of Intricate, who ran second, is best ignored. Trusted Friend has come to hands while, Best of the Lot was never allowed to run on his own from the final curve. Rhapsody In Red finally got the opportunity to emerge victorious in the concluding event over mile. Arcelor came from middle bunch to finish one behind Rhapsody. Crossword, who was notorious against the starting gate, ran on to be good third.
