In the matter of speed, "El Johar" bred horses have no match and it proved true in the Bangalore Turf Club Cup, which was earmarked for class one and Golden Gambler Plate. El Dorado and Jovial were the winners of the respective races on the day when Daring Love was the lone favourite to survive in a card of six events. A five-year-old El Dorado, who is one of the speediest customers at his centre, led the pack from front and managed to keep his head aloft by nailing down the challenge of three horses over the six-furlong competition. Spade of Ace, who came from behind, made every possible effort to foil his bid, but his attempt went in vain failing short by a neck. The favourite Cornelia Spura, who had earlier made the living legend Brahmaputra to sweat a week ago, also tried hard to make her presence felt, but could only be able to finish further neck away from the duo. Her owner and stablemate Ruby Rosa in fact did put up a brave show by finishing close fourth. The seven-year-old mare got the speed only in the last furlong. She's Sexy, who was running close on the heels of El Dorado till the curve, was unfortunate to complete the race in rear as after meeting with interference from Degas, the jockey's leg was out of iron stirrup. In a race prior to El Dorado, Jovial displayed a power of speed and acceleration too. After snatching the early initiative from paramount, the gelding was kept going by Syed Afsar Shah, who later also guided the fortune of El Dorado. Futurecalculations, who made an appearance after a gap of nine months, felt the stress of racing run with the runner-up berth. The absence of initial speed in this outing did matter most as her last two wins came in a wire-to-wire attempt. Murban, who ran close fourth, is knocking at the door. The day's proceeding saw the connections favoured Dazzling Wise making an impressive debut in a pillar-to-post affair. The daughter of Dazzling Wish, who was one of the top ranked fillies at her time at the Delhi course, followed the path of her mother, who was known for her staying capability. But the filly seems to have got the speed from her sire Gaswar. She had no sign of nervousness, instead looked quite compact in the paddock, which certainly helps her to achieve more success. Beatrice, who took up training little later than the rest, galloped marvellously towards the end by displacing Outstanding from the second position. Best of Luck made a late rush for the fourth place, while the favourite Sunheree Parinda, who ran second to Rocking Star (late Rock Star) in October, ran fifth. His run is best ignored. However, the most impressive runner was Rabi Kounga. When he was launching an assault inside the distance, his way was blocked. Fixed Dividend tasted a long overdue victory at the nourishing odds in the upper division of the Knight Eminent Plate. The eight-year-old galloper made Distant Thunder his victim just before the winning post. Interestingly, the latter has yet to end his winning drought. Moreover, Distant Thunder had to share the slot with the late finishing Paddington. Cute N Cool was the fifth upsetter who ruled the roost by stunning Northern Prince in the last strides in the Lady Lightning Plate. The mare was off the pace in the hind group till the final curve and once she gathered momentum, it bore fruitful answer. Northern Prince, who was cleverly pushed to utilise the wide opening at the corner of the bend, should make amends. She's Romantic, who ran third, is worth to be followed in the next outing. The favourite Singh Is Singh ran below par performance to be fourth. Lady's Crown should soon surprise. Daring Love saved the day despite the change of jockey from Rajinder to Dilip Singh in the concluding event. Dilip rode the filly with great confidence and helped her to forget the previous nightmare. The daughter of Ontaria and South Beach should soon reach to her class. Sirtica, who made late dash from the stand side after coming from ninth place, has come to hands.
