-

Owing to outbreak of Equine influenza which has already hampered racing in the eastern and western India circuit, the stewards of the Delhi Race Club have decided to call off rest of the meetings scheduled in the month of November. With the cancellation of races framed on November 11, 18, 25 and 28, the winter season is now likely to kick off in December. To put off the schedule, the authorities consulted the senior veterinary officer and also took the trainers into confidence, as the horses were not being given track work from October 25. The fate of The First Blue Riband Race - 1000 Guineas, which was scheduled to be held on November 18, is hanging in balance. The rescheduled date of the classic, which will be sponsored by the Jagatjit Industries, will be decided in due course. Earlier, three race days were cancelled on the grounds of ‘unavoidable circumstances’.
