The Royal Western India Turf Club, has once again pitched in to bring British racing action to the Mumbai racecourse, sponsoring the live Telecast (Ten Sports), of the Royal Ascot Meeting, keenly followed all around the globe. The Royal Ascot Racing fixtures attract a surfeit of outstanding thoroughbreds not to mention the Europe's best racing pros. The glorious series of events is one of the most exhilarating racing festivals where tradition, glamour and graceful style blends with the most fiercely fought battles on the turf.

The Club had recently sponsored the Epsom Derby last week which saw a tremendous late burst from Pour Moi, with the Derby debutante - young french jockey Barzalona who surfaced from the rear end of the field to clinch the big race in a dramatic finish!

Well, there is a lot more of such nail-biting thrillers in store right through the week and many high-profile races are on the cards for the action-packed five-day race meeting at England’s world renowned racecourse.

The RWITC has tied up with Godrej Properties to beam the races live on a giant screen in its new Club House – “Hooves”. This is a great opportunity for the racing fraternity to get together and jointly witness the great racing spectacle.

An initiative of tribe@turf, which has brought such innovative programs to the members, such as the Symphony on the Lawns and the Farmers’ Market, is one more step of the Club to reach out to a wider audience.

The races which would begin in the evenings around 6.30 PM and go on up to 8.30 PM, will feature some of the top race horses and professionals in the circuit. A form guide provided by Mohit Lalvani who is now a presenter for At The Races, the world's largest racing broadcaster, will be made available as a ready-reckoner for the enthusiasts and one can lay bets that will be pooled to give out winnings in a raffle/lucky draw. Betting permissions have been sought from the Maharashtra Government and the formal approval is awaited. Refreshments and prizes will be offered. Altogether, tense, yet enjoyable evenings are back at the Mahalaxmi racecourse. The next five evenings through the week then, come as a refreshing change for the entertainment-seeking mumbaikars, but for the passionate racing fan, it’s a bonanza!
