A gripping fight was the expectation at Sandown Park on Saturday and the G1 Coral-Eclipse lived up to its top billing with the two greats, So You Think and Workforce providing all the excitement. A.P. O’Brien’s multi Group 1 winner So You Think’s shocking defeat to Rewilding at the Royal Ascot was the talk of the town and his supporters put all their faith and money, backing him down to 4-7. High Chaparral’s So You Think redeemed his superiority by beating Workforce in a remarkable duel over the last furlong, to silence his critics.

Workforce settled in second as the stable companion Confront set a nice pace in front and So You Think was not far behind in third till half way out, in the mile-and-a-quarter trip. Workforce took over 3 f out as the pacemaker started to fade out with So You Think moving up one position. Two furlongs from home, Ryan Moore had the second favourite Workforce going well in front but once Seamie Hefferman got working on So You Think, the 5-year-old responded brilliantly to put the issue beyond doubt inside the final 150 yards.

O'Brien said: "I am delighted for the horse, it was lovely today. It was a straightforward race.” The trainer continued, "He is a horse that gets a mile and a quarter but he has a miler's pace and when they settle with the speed he has the sky as the limit."
