A one-two in the Group 1 Juddmonte International at York and the feat repeated in less than a week by the silks of Khalid Abdullah at Deauville is indeed a rare accomplishment. Announce by Selkirk shook off the even money favourite, Timepiece, in the shadow of the winning post, to win the Group 1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet. Sir Henry Cecil-trained Timepiece was settled in second behind Lily Of The Valley while Announce tracked Fleur Enchantee in fourth as the other runner, Divine Music, trailed the field. Timepiece seized the lead from the tiring Lily Of The Valley approaching the final furlong. Announce quickened well under jockey Maxime Guyon in the final furlong and produced a sparkling dash towards the finish to vanquish the hopes of Timepiece by a whisker.

"We could not have hoped for a better result and both fillies have run extremely well," said Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Khalid Abdullah. "Announce hated the very soft going at Vichy last time, but is a different proposition on better ground. She might go for the [G1] Prix de l'Opera [at Longchamp Oct.], but there are plenty of options abroad." Of the runner-up, he added, "Timepiece also did very well. [Sir] Henry [Cecil] has no immediate plans for her, but there are also plenty of options left for her this season."

Announce and Timepiece are both bred by Juddmonte Farms and the winner is trained by Andre Fabre.
