Lomitas’s 3 year old filly Danedream created history at the Longchamp race track in France on Sunday, pulling off a sensational five lengths victory in the G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Peter Schiergen trained Danedream was supplemented at a cost of €100,000 and the filly mesmerized the field to earn four times the amount as the prize money. Purchased by Gestut Burg Eberstein for €9,000 as a yearling, Danedream found a new face in the team with Japanese breeder Teruya Yoshida buying half share just two days before the race. Jockey Andrasch Starke got Danedream to run in midfield, not far from the pace and made headway 2 furlongs out, to take charge in the final furlong and decimate the rivals by a massive five lengths margin, which is only second to Sakhee’s six, in the year 2001. Shareta and Snow Fairy finished behind the winner to complete a fillys’ trifecta while So You Think turned out to be the best colt, finishing fourth. The timing of 2:24.49 clocked by Danedream is the fastest in the history of the Arc.

"The Arc is a race I have dreamt of for a long time, first as a jockey and then during my career as a trainer," Schiergen said "It is an unbelievable moment, and I have thought for a long time that she is the best I have trained. To win by five lengths here at this track with that great ambience is the greatest moment in my life."

A Jubilant Starke said: "It was just a dream to ride in the race. It was a great performance in a very competitive race with a good horse. In the last two furlongs she gave me a great feel and when she kicked I was dreaming."
