Mr. Hyder Ali Khan & Trainer S A Shehzad Abbas leading Aloisia (A Imran Khan Up), winner of The Blue Ice Plate

S.A.Shehzad Abbas trained Aloisia (Gashwar-Titanium) romped home a clear victor in the Blue Ice Plate, a mile trip for horses in category I, on Saturday at Hyderabad. Davenport made headway to take charge passing the 600 metres pole and Aloisia too made a swift move to get alongside as the field entered the straight. Jockey Imran Khan urged the favourite Aloisia in the final furlong and the filly accelerated readily to scuttle away by four lengths. Davenport held on to the second position from Greek Fire, who moved with a late run.

Trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju went home with a big smile, having saddled three winners in the seven races card. The consistent Celtic Rose (Alnasr Alwasheek-Aureus) from the stable made amends for her earlier failure as a favourite and scored in the higher division of the Charminar Trophy. Being quick at start, Celtic Rose raced with the leader Chamatkar till the final bend and wasting no time jockey N.Rawal rushed ahead with the favourite and led all the way up the final straight. Lake Blossom had to change course inside the final furlong after being locked for room and finished on to be second ahead of True Future.

N.Rawal rode the well backed favourite Days of Thunder (Alnasr Alwasheek-Days of Glory) to victory in the lower division of the Charminar Trophy to pick up a double for himself and the second win for the trainer. Days of Thunder grabbed the lead right from the start and made every post a winning one in the 1000 metres sprint. Flash of Emerald improved late to take the second spot ahead of Rio Grande.

Dazzling Princess (Hymn-Broken Silence) finally managed to shed her maiden ranks, winning the higher division of the Hovercraft Plate. Apprentice P.Sai Kumar took the filly on a start to finish mission and kicked on in the final stages to pick up his first win of the season. Slam Dance looked to be under pressure while finishing second. The favourite Dauntless was troublesome in the gates and never impressed throughout the race. Talking Picture dropped the rider immediately after jumping out from the gates.

L.D’Silva led in two winners on the day. Petradura (Inhabitant-Pettaluma) was ridden tactfully by P.S.Chouhan, to win the Star of Stars Cup, beating the favourite Pluto Queen. Petradura jumped out last and Chouhan showing no urgency raced the filly last, all through till the last 600 metres. As the field began to take the final turn for home, Chouhan made a dash for the shortest way along the inner rails and emerged in front and kept at bay the challenge of Pluto Queen towards the closing stages. Bold Brigade took the third spot after being prominent in the straight.

Ann Arbor (Inhabitant-Masalika) scored an upset win, in the lower division of the Hovercraft Plate. The favourite Vijaysheel held on to the lead till the last furlong and faded out when Ann Arbor in the centre and Royal Turn on the far side moved strongly. Ann Arbor surged ahead and despite drifting out in the last 100 metres won the race by half a length from Royal Turn. Jaden Gil finished third, beating Vijaysheel close home.

The opening race was won by L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Miss Watermelon (Mr.Mellon-Local Secret). The filly, who was a maiden, going into the race, was fancied strongly by the connections and was sent in at a short price of 10 to 9 ‘on’. P.S.Chouhan rode Miss Watermelon in check behind the leader Rich and Famous till passing the 600 metres board and surged ahead to register a fine win. Qinghuangdao was in futile chase in the straight.

Among the professionals, K.S.V.Prasad Raju saddled three winners while trainer L.D’Silva and jockeys N.Rawal and P.S.Chouhan scored a brace each.
