Frankel stormed ahead in the Qipco sponsored G1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot, to emerge victorious by a potent four lengths, over the nearest rival Excelebration. Sir Henry Cecil trained son of Galileo produced a brilliant gallop under Tom Queally in the final quarter mile, to stretch away from the field and keep his remarkable record unblemished. Stable companion, Bullet Train led the action in front, setting a good pace, while the 4 to 11 favourite Frankel raced easy early on and moved smoothly to be second at the halfway stage and took charge in the last furlong. Excelebration took the runner-up berth ahead of Immortal Verse.
The winning owner Khalid Abdullah said, "He is the best horse I have ever owned. Many people think he is the best they have seen, and I am glad to have him. I hope he will do the same next year."
Trainer Sir Henry Cecil said: "He's a very, very good horse. He's done everything I've ever asked. I think a mile and a quarter next year will be easily within him. We wanted him to do enough to win. It's a very nice day."
Tom Queally, who has been astride Frankel in all his races said: "He's getting more professional with every run. Ian did a good job in front and he's grown up enough now to know he doesn't have to blitz the others, he waited for me to say go and he was just electric."
