Real Smasher too fast to catch

Real Smasher added yet another feather to his cap by bagging the Champion Sprinters Cup, which was the stellar attraction of the Delhi races on Monday. Coincidentally, he was the lone favourite to save the day in the card of six events. Trainers Ishwar Singh and Aleem Khan shared a brace each.

After registering a narrow victory in his previous outing with heavy impost, going lighter on handicap on this occasion and tracking marvelously during the try-outs had hardly left scope for any doubt about his supremacy. He was second quickest after the ownermate Shocking Star, whom he chased till the final furlong. Though, the visiting jockey Deepak Kamble Ashish had to put in his best effort to help the mount quicken. The Derby winner should extend his winning streak.

Shocking Star had to settle with the runner-up slot. The filly should make amends. Master Blaster had to overcome his lethargic pattern of running to push back six runners to occupy the third berth ahead of Red Reef, who was prominent before finishing fourth. The former should score over the longer trip, whereas the latter is expected to meeet with success soon. Middle Man and Wild Power finished impressive fifth and sixth respectively.

Ishwar Singh's trainee Kohinoor Empire, who was unable to finish even on the board in the last five outings, caused an upset in the upper division of the Taurian Plate, which was the opening race of the day. The favourite Aali Janab failed to deliver its best under back cracking weight of 61.5 kilos and had to hand over the lead to Saira after entering into the homestraight. However, closing-in the gap of the duo, Kohinoor Empire got an opportiunity to catch Saira by a neck at the post.

The lower division of the plate also saw a close finish, in which Sri Pal Singh-trained Charg Away got a three-parts-of-a-length better of the much obliged Hot And Classic. Jockey Neeraj Rawal, who rode the loser, lost his whip nearing the 300m. Its run is best ignored.
Ishwar's Master Speed completed an encore by keeping the late challenge of the market fancied Chandelier at bay in the Desert Eagle Plate. It is noted that Chandelier had to run widest off the field till the final curve of the mile trip. Air Forse One, who ran third, should soon raise a winning gallop.

The California Plate, which was earmarked for the class three horses, witnessed a gruesome battle between Red Cat and The Mafia. The duo ran nip and tuck most part of the race until the former managed to keep his head ahead of the favourite. While, Divine Grace helped apprentice jockey Bhanu Pratap Singh to earn his career's first victory by subduing Invisible Force in the Romantic Hero Plate.
