Master Blaster rose to the occasion in nick of time to lift the Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Cup, the feature event of the Delhi races held on Tuesday. Trainer Magan Singh notched up a treble, while jockey Pawan Sharma booted home a double.

Ishwar Singh-trained Master Blaster, who had run third in the Champion Sprinters Cup, was running for the first time this season over his pet distance still a furlong less than the suitable mile. He was lying seventh until the field of eight horses made headway towards the final furlong. As the horses scattered, the son of Hymn-Velocette and his owner mate Ka Ching, who came from the back of the pack, galloped through the stand side to steal the show by going nip and tuck. Chhotu Singh Jodha astride the former managed to get nostril better of the Suresh Kumar-ridden Ka Ching, who should make amends. Moongate man, who ran over the longer trip for the first time, warmed up late to occupy the third place by displacing out of form Red Reef.

Earlier, Ishwar's Master Faster bite the dust in the day's opener - Red Rose Lover Plate. The odds-on favourite and younger brother to Master Blaster, Marhaba and Perfect Cut were the only matured runners. Master Faster showed the speed but had no answer when Marhaba started challenging him near the final furlong. Despite hanging-in, the daughter of Epicentre and Truly Scrumptious left the field in lurch. She has the potential to reach the class. Ashwa Harbir, who was hanging-out, ran on to be notable third.

Roopendra Singh Shekhawat's trainee Amazing Super (Late - Extraordinaire) registered an emphatic victory over the market fancied Global Wind in the upper division of the Chacha Nehru Plate. The loser, who was running after a long lay off, should soon raise a winning gallop. In the lower division of the Plate, Magan's charge Awesome foiled start-to-finish bid of Mysterio. Awesome should complete an encore.

Don't You Dare completed a hat-trick in an impressive manner by bagging the First Prime Minister Plate, which was earmarked for the class three horses. It was her third straightaway victory over the mile. Made of Gold, winner of two races over the sprint, was taking on the field over the 1,600m for the first time. After the early furlong, he was observed to be reeling under pressure and when he gained the momentum inside the distance, Don't You Dare was out of his reach. The son of Ontario and Forest Maid will be one of the strong contenders for the North India 2000 Guineas.

Show On recorded a facile victory by making every post a winning one in the senior division of the Bal Diwas Plate. She should maintain the form. Elemento Trance, who was the runner-up, is knocking at the door. Sangeet Charan-saddled Trusted Man shed his maiden status in the junior Plate. The favourite Hot And Classic, whose head was on the side-bar at the time of breaking out, dislodged the jockey on jump. The wise authorities held an enquiry and decided to declare Hot And Classic a non-starter under the rules of the Royal Western India Turf Club.
