Trainer Z Darashah leading Lad Lady (P S Chouhan Up), winner of The C.P.Chinnappa Memorial Cup

Zareer Darashah schooled Lad Lady (Razeen-Tarnished Lady) lived to her reputation as one among the promising youngsters at Mysore, when the 3 year old romped home in an impressive fashion to lift the C.P.Chinnappa Memorial Cup. With two back to back wins during summer, the daughter of Razeen had two outings during the main season at Mysore, last of which was in the Mysore Derby.

Dream Of Gold was the first to make a move and surge ahead of the tiring Muskaan, as the field of twelve turned for home. P.S.Chouhan pulled out Lad Lady to give a free run, midway up the straight and the filly responded tremendously to scuttle away from the rest. Scimitar rallied late to take the second place ahead of Dream Of Gold.

The most successful professional of the day was trainer C.V.G.K.Kishore, pulling off a rich haul of three wins, through Hurricane Bay, High Treason and Just Great, all at nourishing odds. Kishore was not present to lead his winners as he is out of the country. Trainer J.Sharavanan deputized in Kishore’s absence. Trainer Feroz M Khan saddled the winners in the first two races of the day while P.S.Chouhan stuck to his winning trend by booting home a double.

Hurricane Bay (Young Senor-Annella) was the first to score from Kishore’s stable, winning the Wynad Plate. Jockey S.Sunil, who replaced M.A.Milan rode out Hurricane Bay to push through a pack of horses towards the closing stages and score a stunning upset in a close finish which could be called as a handicapper’s delight. The first five places were covered within one length. Rashida finished second followed by Greenbro, Perfect Bond and All For Cash.

High Treason (Eljohar-Coral Reef) came with a startling run in the last 200 metres to surge ahead of the favourite Lake Of Fortune, in the higher division of the Nanjangud Plate. Lake Of Fortune was in the lead from the start but faltered near the distance post to lose out to High Treason. Noble Sacrifice came with a late run to finish a close third. Smiletovictory was withdrawn before the start after the horse turned fractious near the gates.

Snow Peaks received strong support towards race time and was sent into the Great Charishma Plate as the favourite. Setting out in front from the word ‘go’, Snow Peaks tried for a pillar to post victory but found the mile out of reach and fizzled out. Just Great (Serious Splender-Wild Rain) and Mr.Sunrise made their move together inside the last furlong and they fought out till the finish. P.S.Chouhan’s strong handling had Just Great a neck in front at the wire.

The right money came on Feroz Khan trained Manthara (Inner City-Three In One), being backed down to favouritism, in the Manasagangothri Plate, the opening race of the day. Travelling in about sixth position as the field turned for the final run, Manthara moved strongly to get past the front running Prettyyashwini inside the last 50 metres. Feroz won the very next race through Prince Of Argyle (Bee’s Prospector-Beloved Pearl). My Boy had a sizable lead over the rest on entering the straight but shortened his strides rapidly and dropped out of contention. Prince Of Argyle was guided through the inner ground by Melvyn Maseyk and the 6 year old shot ahead to win comfortably. Prince Norbert ran on to take the second spot beating Kukanof.

Micheal Eshwar’s Caterina (Senure-Femme Fatale) justified the short price, by winning the lower division of the Nanjangud Plate from start to finish. The favourite dictated the pace and was never troubled at any stage of the race. Mr.Hurricane got the better of Heart Of Reality close to the winning post to finish second. Shahizaar and Sprawling Elegance were withdrawn before the race after unruly behavior.

T.Natraj trained Skyfleet (International-Claribel) travelled the fastest in the last 200 metres to win the Big Deal Plate. Green Vision after setting the pace till the last 300 metres succumbed to the lead and finished fourth while Behram took the runner-up berth ahead of the fast finishing Yanamaria.
