Despite a delayed start to the Calcutta Winter Meeting due to over half the stable strength being affected by Pyrexia of an Unknown Origin (POU), the mood at the RCTC office remains upbeat as things are expected to normalize quicker than at other centers which have suffered a similar predicament.

Chairman of the Stewards, Cyrus Madan, confirmed that the horses will definitely be on the track by the first week of December as the leading veterinarians of the country have given the animals a clean chit.

"The 'illness' has been contained effectively and there has been a slow but certain improvement in the condition of the horses," said Madan.
