Zareer Darashah schooled Lad Lady (Razeen-Tarnished Lady) proved to be the best among the six runners in the Sahyadri Plate, a nine furlongs trip for horses rated 60 and above. Lad Lady was backed to the exclusion of her rivals sheerly on her reputation as among the best youngster at this centre and she proved her worth, romping home by a lengthening margin of seven lengths.

Greenbro set out in front from the start and had established an unusually long lead as the runners headed for the final turn. Lad Lady never looked to be perturbed by Greenbro’s antics and raced in second position till the top of the straight. On the home stretch the daughter of Razeen raised an effortless gallop to decimate the opposition. Rashida turned out to be the best of the beaten lot, finishing ahead of Rule Of People, Raptor Force and Greenbro.

A seemingly pleased Zareer, speaking to India Race after the race said, “She’s now heading to Bangalore to meet the other girls in the Oaks that’s coming up in just four weeks from now.”

Amazing Flora (Inner City-Alflora) from Bipin Salvi’s Yard surprised everyone in the Negresco Cup. The seven year old had two outings this season, finishing a suggestive fourth in her last. Jockey Harish on Amazing Flora made the first move as the field straightened and moved ahead to take over from the long time leader Possibility. Crackerjack was the only one to offer some kind of a challenge but finished second unable to match the strides of the winner. The favourite Badda Rupaiyya suffered from a sore back during the race and never looked comfortable throughout the trip. Amazon was withdrawn on veterinary grounds near the starting gates.

Trainer Vikram Appachu saddled a double through Hampton Court and Thumping Victory. Hampton Court (San Francisco-Golden Collection) was well in touch with the front running Yanamaria till entering the final straight. The five year old moved up strongly under the lesser known P.Mani, to emerge as the winner. The much fancied All For Cash raced towards the rear till the bend and when Samuel decided to go for it he got entangled in the traffic and had to maneuver his way to come out of the mess. All For Cash got closer to the winner towards the finish but had to settle for the second place. Skyfleet finished in the money ahead of the long time leader Yanamaria while the favourite Scimitar ran listless.

Thumping Victory (Stavros-Pushy) got up in the nick of time to beat the favourite Daring Dynamite on the post, in the higher division of the Pattadakal Plate. Daring Dynamite had lost a few precious strides while negotiating the final bend four off the fence but had surged ahead and looked like he would successfully wrap it up but Thumping Victory flew in front of the grand stand, to nail the favourite in the last stride.

A good gamble was successfully pulled off by the connections of Nishi Girl (Eljohar-Twothousandandfour) in the lower division of the Pattadakal Plate. There was spirited betting on Nishi Girl after the horses left the parade ring and she landed up as the first favourite as the field reached the starting gates. Heading straight to the front from the start, Nishi Girl led all the way to the finish. Real Magic posed a challenge in the final furlong but Nishi Girl quickened well to stay ahead. Bella Coola move late to finish a close third ahead of One In All.

C.D.Monnappa’s Always On Top (Inner City-Maria Sharapova) justified the favouritism in the Crown Treasure Plate. Snow Peaks had emerged clear inside the last 200 metres and Always On Top sneaked in towards the rails and put his head in front in the last couple of strides to score his maiden victory.

Jockey S.Ramesh rode a back to back double in the first two races of the day. Feroz Khan’s Spark Of Napoleon (Diffident-Divine Elegence) won the Dandeli Plate, the opening event of the day. Spark of Napoleon kept improving throughout the straight and surged ahead of the long time leader My Boy inside the last 100 metres. Raging river was withdrawn before the race.

Ramesh’s double was through Santosh Rao trained Sugar Gold (Fact Finder-Eminency) in the Makedatu Plate. The race favourite Cesaria led till midway up the straight but Sugar Gold with a forceful gallop overhauled the leader to win by over two lengths at the finish. Supreme Arch edged out Wimbeldon Start for the third place. Sunshower was withdrawn before the race.
