Sunday turned out to be a profitable day for favourite hunters at Hyderabad with as many as six raging fancies obliging in a card of nine races and fancied runners making it in the other three. Jockey A.Imran Khan was in the limelight booting home five winners. S.A.Shehzad Abbas, L.V.R.Deshmukh, D.Netto and P.S.Chouhan were the professionals who scored a double each.

Iaepetus (Major Impact-Limelite) made every pole a winning one in the Ghulam Ahmed Memorial Cup, the feature event of Sunday’s races at Hyderabad. A miler of repute, the son of Major Impact from Shehzad Abbas’s stables was backed to the exclusion of his four rivals. Imran who shares a rare bonding with Iaepetus took the six year old to lead the field from the start and set a scorching pace. Rapture of Victory chased the leader a couple of lengths behind while the rest toiled hard almost a distance away. On the home stretch Iaepetus galloped relentlessly and wrapped up the race with ease. Jabel Queen bridged the long gap to finish third behind Rapture of Victory in a close finish.

Imran Khan rocked on the day, booting home five winners. After scoring on Iaepetus, Imran made a clean sweep in the last four races of the day. D.Netto trained Nasheeta (China Visit-Tehema) lifted the higher division of the Andhra Sub-Area Cup, a nine furlongs trip for horses rated upto 75. Imran made a swift move on Nasheeta to collar the front running Nano Storm on top of the straight and went clear. The favourite Vijay’s Dhara mustered some effort towards the closing stages to finish second in front Nano Storm.

Shehzad’s Achiever (Conquering Hero-Paper Queen) picked the second win of his career, in the Zoom Zoom Plate. Queen Of Habashe was in the lead till last 150 metres from where Achiever moved with telling strides to surge ahead. Indian Brave Heart rallied late to take the second spot beating Queen Of Hebashe.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s Robust (Sussex-Celestial Dancer) was another horse who has got to winning ways. Having shed his maiden ranks on the last day of the monsoon season, Robust reproduced that run in his second attempt this season to wrap up the lower division of the Ballo Plate. Racing close to the rails as the field approached the final bend, Robust made a move in the same path to draw away from the rest. True Diamond was the best of the beaten brigade.

Imran signed off the day with a runaway victory on the piping hot favourite Chal Bhai Chal (Greensmith-Racing Dream) to give trainer Netto a double in the Tribute Plate. Senorita, Kohinoor Princess and Manduro finished in a cluster in that order to fill the frame.

Jockey P.S.Chouhan pulled off a double, winning on Racing Ruby and Vijaykeerti, both from Deshmukh’s stable, to keep his score board ticking. Racing Ruby (Ace-Cut Time) justified the favouritism in the higher division of the Chaitanya Ratham Plate, a six furlongs sprint for maiden two year olds. Improving to be second behind Kohinoor Revanta as they rounded the final turn, Racing Ruby quickened readily when asked for an effort. Nano Desire, Sheridan and Dazzling Prince filled the frame in a close finish.

Vijaykeerti (Aussie Rules-Cielo) got past Fearless Mission who was on a start to finish bid as the field started to round the final turn and moved strongly on the home stretch to shake off Airbourne Magic’s effort, the lower division of the Andhra Sub-Area Cup. Melody Queen and Toli Toli Toli rallied late to take the second and third spot respectively.

K.Satheesh’s Transition (Hurricane State-Wingnaprayer) pulled off a start to finish victory in the lower division of the Chaitanya Ratham Plate. Quick at start, Transition moved swiftly from an outer draw to get to the inner rails and lead the field. Showing up on the home straight two lengths clear of the nearest challenger, Transition kept up the tempo and stayed ahead of Nano Pride.

Laxman Singh’s Homely Helo (Diffident-Girl From Ascot) moved with big strides in the last 200 metres to get past Miss Watermelon by a neck at the wire in the higher division of the Ballo. Plate, the opening race of the day.
