Fantastic Belle's surprise win in The Hindu Bangalore Oaks, against expectations, provided first season trainer S Ganapathy the first classic success here on Saturday. Not many reckoned that Fantastic Belle ran with a realistic chance notwithstanding that none of the horse in fray was cut above the rest.

Padmanabhan trained Access All Areas was favoured to win  but the Razeen progeny, after racing a prominent third right through, failed to quicken when she came under pressure. Sans Egale who had the first run on her opponents, had a break of about three lengths over the rest as Fantastic Belle who was well up with the front-runner was struggling to accelerate. It was Adamile who flattered to deceive as Fantastic Belle responded to the urgings of jockey B Prakash who currently enjoying a glorious season,  picked up momentum inside the final 100 metres to go through the middle to win from Adamile who pipped Sans Egale for the runner-up spot.

Jockey Shroff who rode Sans Egale had a consolation win in the Millennium Cup, a terms race for four-year olds and over, the supporting event of the day. Averoff whose best has been a neck behind Smart Chieftan in last year's Bangalore Derby under Shroff, proved too good for the opposition, kicking clear inside the final 200 metres and retaining that lead capably when Tempt Me Not came charging in.
