Windsor Manor (Placerville-Amber Windsor) lifted the Kr. Rajendra Singh Memorial Golconda Juvenile Million (Gr.III), the feature event of Sunday’s races at Hyderabad. For the daughter of Placerville, this was the second successive ‘Million’ victory, having romped home earlier in the Darley Arabian Million. A winner in all her three starts, two of them being group races, Windsor Manor appears to have a brilliant career ahead.

Being the fastest to jump out, Windsor Manor led from the start with jockey Imran Chisty keeping her on tight reins till the field approached the final 400 metres. When asked to accelerate, Windsor Manor started to drift out of the straight course but kept galloping resolutely, to score an impressive victory. Trainer M. Sathyanarayana has a job on hand to correct the wavering habit of the filly on the home stretch. The Bangalore challenger Midtown Magic changed course towards the inner ground in the final 300 metres but found the winner a tough customer and had to settle for the runner-up berth while Zamorin towed in to be third.

Trainer M. Sathyanarayana pulled off a good double, winning the lower division of the Akash Ganga plate, the concluding race of the day with a well-backed Hard Kingdom. Daniella (Ex Noor Ul Ain) tried her best to make it a start-to-finish affair but Hard Kingdom (Diffident-Roman Eagle) picked up speed in the last 100 metres and flashed in to win. True Future made a late dash to take the second spot ahead of Daniella.

Sehzad Abbas-trained Aloisia (Gaswar-Titanium) has hit a purple patch, picking up her third win of the season. Aloisia won the R.C.T.C. Cup, for horses in the highest category and Shehzad deserves full marks for keeping this daughter of Gaswar in pink of condition. Aloisia dilly-dallied in the rear, till the top of the straight and weaved through the field and with power-packed finish settled the issue with the speedy Greek Fire.

Trainer Anupam Sharma has been having one of the best seasons ever, winning 26 races with a string of just about 40 horses. Sunday turned out to be lucrative as well with a treble. Zero Tolerance (Survivalist-Tarq Asmi) chased the early leader Dazzling Princess till the 50 metres and all of a sudden raised a terrific gallop to whiz past the Princess, who turned out to be a cropper yet again, in the lower division of the Artistic Tribute Plate. Valentine and Betty Prior took the third and fourth places respectively and the duo should get to the winning bracket soon.

Brianna (Tejano-Traffic Police) got the mile trip from start to finish, in the Eagle Eye Plate. Jockey P.S. Chouhan rode out the filly to keep a safe margin in front from Illustrator, who tried his best to get to the leader.

Cannon Act (Kly Green-Ingenuity) got to the lead early in the race and stretched out from Easy strides, in the R.S. Jhunjhunwala Memorial Cup. Winning Rays started to gallop late to cover a lot of ground but could only finish third. Apprentice G Sai Vamshi, who rode the winner, looks to be maturing well as a rider. With two wins on the day, he has taken his tally to 17. Vamshi had earlier in the day ridden M.V. Narayana Rao’s Cascading Glory (Storm Trooper-Wild Glory) to a gutsy victory, in the higher division of the Akash Ganga Plate. Crown Castle and Queen Of Sheeba were involved in a neck to neck fight on the straight and the latter had surged ahead but could not hold on as Cascading Glory flew from the rear to win. Genius Empress took the third place ahead of Crown Castle.

Sk. Kassam’s Cicilia (Duja-Shy Romance) triumphed over Magadeera and Bharatanatyam in a close three-way finish, in the opener, the Don Micheletto Plate. The long-time leader Retaliate finished fourth.

Prasad Raju’s Days Of Thunder (Alnasr Alwasheek-Days Of Glory) made every post a winning one in the hands of P.B. Beggy to lift the higher division of the Artistic Tribute Plate. Days of Thunder ran a fast race stopping the clock under a minute, while A Horizontal Urge was in futile chase throughout the race.
