Real Speed Gets Better of Equal Luxury

By Parjanya | 03 Nov 2011 | DELHI

Real Speed showed her speed, while emerging victorious in the Veterinary Hospital Plate, the feature event at the Delhi races held on Friday. Trainer Ishwar Singh Parmar and jockey Chotu Singh Jodha shared a brace each.

Rajinder-trained Real Speed, who had run third behind King of Lords in her last essay, was quickest of the block over the six furlongs. Though, the daughter of Ontario and Maratha Princess drifted out at the bend, yet Jai Prakash rode her out brilliantly by correcting her strides and not allowed Equal Luxury to foil her start-to-finish bid.

The piping hot favourite Equal Luxury began well and was third before starting to chase Real Speed. The daughter of Young Senor and Seranova had to receive a slight check from the latter at the curve and had to be switched onto the rails to stake a claim but Real Speed proved to be too speedy. She bears another chance.

Taking an advantage of lung opener, Master Champion, who ran third to Real Stunner on debut, floored the opposition in the day's opener, the Equine Health Plate. The son of Mull of Kintyre and Knowle Park took off quickly to dominate the turf in pilar to post affair. The colt has the ability to score over slightly extended trip to six furlongs.

Marhaba, who was running fit till the top of the homestretch, responded well to the urgings of young apprentice Danish Ali Khan to occupy the runner up berth. She has the stamina to stay. Slip Away, a well bred colt of New Famous and Belles In The Mist, looked a bit gross and had to jostle momentarily with Four By Four before finishing third. He should be in different shape in the next venture. Four By Four, who ran fourth, bears watching.

Deepak Kalra's trainee Ungettablebachelor had got no opposition to deal with while making every post a winning one in the upper division of the St Stephen Plate. He should soon complete a hat-trick. The lower division of the Plate also turned out to be a one horse race affair as Dazzling Wise left Ashwa Panchhi dance to her tune.

Ishwar Singh Parmar-saddled Master Speed followed the path of Kiana to become the second horse to complete a hat-trick this season. The SPCA Plate, which she won, wore an open look. At least four to five horses were staking a claim after entering into the home straight of the seven furlong's event. Sol, who was in rear till the final furlong, came through the shortest way to finish third behind Alabaster. Warrior Race and Chandelier, who were prominent at 800m and 300m respectively, were found bleeding through nostrils.

Visiting jockey J Chinoy did a class act by guiding Fiorella from the rear of the field to pip Little Master at the wire in the concluding race of the day - the Veterinarian Plate.
