Trainer Bipin V Salvi leading Flaming Arrow (Afsar Khan Up), winner of The Solitaire Cup

Flaming Arrow (Black Cash-Karla Wyller) from the stables of Bipin V Salvi found his galloping shoes, to pull out of the pack and lift the Solitaire Cup, a seven furlongs race for horses rated 80 and above, which featured Wednesday’s races at Mysore. Eight runners lined up for the start with Rising Beauty and Ashkan garnering all the attention in the betting. Absolute Reality set the pace and brought the field into the home stretch. Flaming Arrow started to move with intent inside the last 200 m and surged ahead to win the race in a smart timing. Rising Rainbow put up a late challenge but could only beat Absolute Reality to occupy the runner-up berth.

Iron Marshall (Placerville-Rivage) who is known to race best over seven furlongs, was given a tactful ride by Y.S.Srinath to land the spoils over the mile trip, in the Karkala Plate. Srinath settled Iron Marshall in third while Gershwin and Milagro started to empty their tank in front. Moving forward as they rounded the final turn, Iron Marshall took charge on top of the straight and Srinath went for the stick only when challenged by Dare Don. Iron Marshall kept Dare Don at bay right through the final furlong.

Michael Eshwer who trains Iron Marshall had earlier in the day led in Treasure Mountain and Koosha, to be the most successful professional of the day. Treasure Mountain (Ace-Divine Diamond), making his debut was sent in at cramped odds, for the Mauritious Pearl Stakes, the
opening race of the day. Srinath settled Treasure Mountain behind the pace setting Golden Slipper till the top of the straight and when he let go, the son of Ace stretched out to extend the margin to over seven lengths at the finish. Golden Slipper took the second spot while the others were far behind.

Koosha (Black Cash-Czarina) justified the favouritism in the lower division of the Panaji Plate. Sunshower did all the running in front, till Koosha came up strongly 300 m from home and surged ahead. Enforcer and Visual Element rallied late to finish second and third respectively. Mystic Impact was withdrawn before the race.

Trainer S.Rakesh saddled a double through Atom Bomb and Mom In Law, both at lucrative odds. Atom Bomb (Hymn-Applause) made every post a winning one in the Nelamangala Plate, Kukanof tried her best to get to the leader on the home stretch but failed. Awesome Fighter rallied along the inner rails to beat Kukanof for the second place. The favourite Badda Rupaiyya finished sixth after losing precious ground at start and trailing the field till entering the final straight.

Mom In Law (Case Law-Miss Biarritz) was the biggest upset of the day, beating her ten rivals in the Skyline Plate. Racing with the front bunch till the last 300 metres, Mom In Law surged ahead to win comfortably. Bright Star, Nishi Girl and High Treason finished together in that order, to fill the frame. The favourite Masteroftheseas travelled four off the fence throughout the race and fizzled out after raising some hopes on top of the straight.

C.Girinath trained Prezzie (Juniper-Landrail) produced a resolute gallop inside the last 100 metres to score an encore, in the higher division of the Panaji Plate. Flirting King on a start to finish mission was joined by Esteghlal and as the two started to fight out when Prezzie flew from the far side to zip past. Winning Tale followed Prezzie to finish second.

M.Bobby’s Rich Rogue (Mr.Mellon-Poison Ivy) surged ahead of Shahizaar in the last 50 metres to win the Native Tactics Plate, the concluding race of the day. Minchu dropped the rider immediately after jumping out and Bliss collapsed 300 metres from home. Jockey S.Mallikarjun of Minchu escaped unhurt while N.Rajesh who rode Bliss was taken to the hospital for observation after he complained of shoulder pain.
