Ranthambhore (Hymn – Radiance), trained by young trainer Adhirajsingh Jodha, plundered his rivals with a tremendous turn of foot and completely outclassed them all with a super display of speed. Settling towards the tail end of the field initially, being a touch slowly off, Ranthambhore improved gradually as Lake Michigan and Icon made the front-running. Dancing Dame and Sugar Loaf followed the pair in front, with Ranthambhore improving steadily to be a fair fifth as they galloped towards the turn.

Icon kicked on past a tiring Lake Michigan and soon Sugar Loaf and Dancing Dame started to get closer. As the three were preparing for the final run, Ranthambhore gathered terrific momentum and shocked the trio with a supreme burst of speed that made the fighting trio look pedestrians. His final dash was awesome and Ranthambhore looked far too superior to the rest. Ranthambhore added distance between himself and his rivals in such quick time that he found himself all alone in front in the final furlong. This was one of the most authoritative victories and Ranthambhore surely looks a candidate to be followed until beaten.

Sugar Loaf’s effort at finishing second looked a pale one, completely overwhelmed by Ranthambhore’s dominating performance. Icon tried had for the runner-up berth and showed considerable improvement on his recent runs and showed signs of returning to good form.

As if to celebrate the thumping success of his son Adhiraj, trainer Magan Singh Jodha sent out an impressive winner in debutante Cream of the Crop (War Chant – Colors). Sky High was the on-money favourite but Cream of the Crop never allowed Sky High to get past him once the pair began their dash to the finish. Patcha brought the field home and soon Sky High started to make her presence felt. She had barely nosed ahead of Patcha when Cream of the Crop came alongside with a sustained gallop. They fought out a few strides, but Cream of the Crop, ridden by Sandesh in place of stable jockey CS Jodha, had it all covered. Cream of the Crop stayed ahead all through and stretched further away for a convincing win. Sky High tried hard but failed to arrest the forceful march of Cream of the Crop. Sergeant Major did well to end in the place money.

Blue Sky (China Visit – Blue Ridge) has been in rousing form of late and added yet another victory this season. Out of My Way tried the runaway tactics in the Greater Mumbai Police Trophy but found the going too tough to handle when those behind converged on him midway in the straight.  Out of My Way entered the straight with a comfortable lead but started to weaken past the distance post. Rebecca, the favourite, tried to bridge the gap and even did so, but was easily accounted for by Ishpingo. Ishpingo covered good ground rapidly and shot past Out of My Way and Rebecca and even shaped like a winner. In the last 100 meters, Rajendra produced Blue Sky from the outside and the Dallas filly moved like a bullet to collar Ishpingo closer home and stretched away to an impressive victory. Ishpingo had to be content with the next best slot while Rebecca ended a tame third.

Rancho (Placerville – Madame Equis) finally came good and scored his maiden victory in style. Sitting well up for the 2000 m race, Rancho bulldozed past long time leader Jens Glory soon on turning for home. Once ahead, Rancho left nothing to chance and did not even give any chance to anyone in the field and stretched away for a very comfortable victory. The confident Zervan piloted Rancho well and Rancho lived up to his last start promise. He won by a clear margin of more than two lengths without exerting whatsoever. Rancho showed that he loves the longer trips most and it would be worth following Rancho’s progress. Fortune Hunter covered a lot of ground to hold good in his own way, pegging back Solar Angel.

Young Offender (Alnasr Alwasheek – Caractere) produced a scintillating burst in the final furlong to wrap up his second victory this season. Herzeliyah and Sprauncy were at the helm until they turned for home and the duo prolonged their charge past the 300m mark. Blades of glory, Rajdoot and Dancing Jenny started to close-in on the duo. With a bunch of horses trying to gain the upper hand in a bullish battle up front, Young Offender from trainer Mansoor Shah’s yard, came alive with an electrifying run. Dashrath Singh, who is continuing his good form of Pune, launched his attack well inside the final furlong and Young Offender surged forward to trounce the opposition in matter of strides. Dancing Jenny ran on to finish a good second and Rajdoot ended in the money. Athos who was racing in the rear for most of the journey, covered ground towards the finish and did well to catch a place in the frame.

Fallen Angel (Ontario – Ganga Purna), trained by Rehanullah Khan, pulled of a successful gamble as she went about her task from the word go. Working up a brisk pace, Sandesh had Fallen Angel in command all the while and increased his lead coming into the homestretch. Past the 400, Fallen Angel looked good and at the distance post, one would have been forgiven if he had put aside the binoculars. It was only in final100 or so did Sweaty Betty got closer to the leader in quick time. Fantastic Kingdom came with a late finish but failed to catch up on runner up Sweaty Betty.

Star Blessings (Eljohar – Star Divine) shot into the lead early but settled down comfortably in second as Bellisima took over. Entering the straight, Star Blessings wrested the initiative and quickly put up a three length lead over the rest. Past the distance post, Star Blessings kept the momentum going and looked an easy winner. However, a late burst from Radical Mackie and Electra who was covering ground from behind threw in some anxious moments for the followers of the favourite. Star Blessings, nevertheless, held on till the post and warded off the stiff challenge posed by Radical Mackie. Electra ended a good third and is one for the note book over the same distance or even a furlong more.

Sylvinia was the shortest priced casualty and succumbed to the surprise onslaught of long-shot Al Huzzah (Alnasr Alwasheek – Sedona). Sylvinia seemed right on course as she got past the leader Monarchos without much effort. She seemed to be travelling well at that time and with under two furlongs to go, Sylvinia seemed on good ground. The pack behind her comprised Ocean of Faith, Al Huzzah, Auraria and Nanina on the wider outside but Sylvinia seemed to be kicking on. In the final 100 meters, Al Huzzah came alive and in a strong finish managed to down the favourite close home. Ocean of Faith ended third ahead of Auraria.

For the professionals, trainer Pesi Shroff continued to fare well, saddling a double, which included the plum Ruia Gold Cup, while jockeys Dashrath Singh and Sandesh too scored a brace each.
