Mr. Satyanarayana Reddy Pannala, Mr. C.H.Krupakar Reddy & Trainer S. S. Faisal Hassan leading Malabar Prince (A Ramana Up), winner of The Delhi Race Club Trophy

Faisal Hassan trained Malabar Prince (Gaswar-Munetta) who had triumphed over eleven furlongs, just ten days ago, laboured hard to clinch the Delhi Race Club Trophy, in a close finish from Carte Blanche. Carte Blanche took off in a hurry from the start and brought the field into view on the home straight, followed by Magic Million, Vijay Monarch and Malabar Prince opting to take the rails run. Carte Blanche carried on in front as they moved into the final furlong and jockey A.Ramana who had replaced Ch.K.Chary on Malabar Prince, was equally determined to come up triumphs. Malabar Prince finally managed to collar Carte Blanche in the shadow of the winning post. The Leader was the fastest finishing towards the closing stages, covering almost a street, to take the third spot ahead of Vijay Monarch.

Faisal had a favourite in Green Gift, a race earlier, the lower division of the Jockey V. Rajashekar Memorial Cup but failed to pull it off despite the assistance of P.S.Chouhan on the saddle. K.Satheesh’s Style Ikon (Don Michelleto-Swiss Maid) won the race from Green Gift and Deccan Storm in a very close finish. Style Ikon got stronger inside the last 300 metres and sped past the front running pair of Kansas City Mac and Gabriel. Green Gift and Deccan Storm rushed towards Style Ikon in the closing stages but failed to collar Style Ikon and went down narrowly.

P.S.Chouhan had no problems in guiding Deshmukh’s April Showers (Ajaad-Taxido) to a start to finish victory in the higher division. April Showers carried the top weight with ease to leave the field cold and win by a lengthening margin. True Star and Iceland finished second and third respectively.

Satheesh had earlier saddled Handsome Hunk (Juniper-Knowle Park) to victory in the Might is Right Plate. Apprentice B.Dileep got his mount to improve as the field rounded the final turn and surged ahead on top of the straight. Imran Khan brought the favourite Confidential along the inner rails but the gap narrowed down and he had to pull his mount out to be given a clear run. Confidential raised a gallop inside the last 100 metres but fell short by half a length at the finish. The long time leader Aneres ended up third, a further four lengths adrift. Vijays Rose was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

Zoheb Shaikh’s Uno Mas (Ikhtyar-Blairgowire) showed plenty of improvement to shed her maiden status, in the Best of Fun Plate, a six furlongs sprint. Imran Khan was quick to get Uno Mas to the inner rails from an outside draw and lead the field. Girnar was in futile chase in the last 200 metres. Genius Queen warmed up late and got the better of Girnar in the last stride for the second spot.

Imran Khan scored a double on Dark Avenger (Don Michelleto-Royal Shine), a debutante from Shehzaad Abbas’s nursery. Dark Avenger showed up on the far side and showed plenty of speed towards the last 200 metres to stay clear of Ocean Side. Kohinoor Revanta finished third, a neck behind.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s Cannon Ten (Sharp Attack-Angel of Glory) shot ahead to lead the field when the eleven runners were dispatched in the higher division of the Northern Dancer Plate and made every post a winning one to register its maiden victory. For the record Gold Coast, Great Warrior and Any Given Time filled the frame.

L.D’Silva and apprentice A.K.Pawar teamed up, to lift both the divisions of the Mountain Lily Plate. Rosemead (Inhabitant-Rose Garden) produced a sparkling run to win the lower division. The favourite Hard Kingdom had charged ahead passing the distance marker and was looking good when Rosemead weaved through the field from the rear and breezed past to post a clear victory.

Menlo Park (Raise a Grand-Groves) who had finished last, in a field of fourteen runners, in its last run, showed a reversal of form by winning the seven furlongs trip from start to finish. Arabian Dancer found Menlo Park too hard to catch and settled for the second place.
