Miss Ruby (Eljohar-Suriyothai) surprised followers of form when she pulled off a pillar to post victory in the Trigger Cup, a six furlongs sprint for horses rated 60 and above. Highland Bounty received strong support in the betting, going into the race as the firm favourite, while Miss Ruby was available at lucrative odds. Miss Ruby who had won a race exactly a year ago looked to be getting back to form, going by her two runs in December but the last run early this month where she finished off the board put off many racing buffs who would have otherwise preferred a wager on her.

Taking off in a hurry from the start, Miss Ruby set a cracking pace with Daring Dynamite close behind, till entering the straight. Inside the final furlong Miss Ruby quickened well and won comfortably from Vigoroso who rallied late to take the second spot. Yankee Lane finished an impressive third ahead of Hurricane Bay.

Vishal Yadav’s Demanding Format (Hymn-Flaming Bay) picked up momentum mid way up the straight and drew away to lift the Gonikoppa Plate from the favourite Skyway. Heydan who was the first to go past the front running River Gem on the home straight, ended up third.

Santosh Rao saddled a back-to-back double through Samrat and Crackerjack. Samrat (Hymn-Meryl) got behind the front running Passage Of Time as they entered the final straight and got stronger with jockey Vivek going for the stick, to surge ahead inside the last 100 metres, in the B.Khanna Memorial Plate, the opening race of the day. Callidora was squeezed badly towards the inner rails within the first furlong and the rider was dislodged.

Crackerjack (Royal Gladiator-Maxim) took a good jump at start and settled in second behind Heartoftheocean. Approaching the last 200 m Crackerjack collared Heartoftheocean and staved off the late challenge of Possibility who moved strongly along the inner rails.

Jockey Vivek rode his second win of the day, on Dinesh Pujar’s Saratoga (Inner City-Cherry Blue), in the lower division of the Thituvananthapuram Plate. Marianella, Flirting King, Man Down Under, Saratoga and Prezzie were closely bunched up as the turned for home and Flirting King was the first to take the initiative when the race got to a boil. Saratoga moved strongly to surge ahead and pushed back Flirting King to the second position. Prezzie and Marianella finished third and fourth respectively.

K.P.G.Appu rode J.Saravanam’s Awesome Fighter (Bee’s Prospector-Acapulco) to victory in the Himalayas Plate. Awesome Fighter settled in third while Noble Sacrifice and Best Move fought for their heads in front over the mile trip. Straightening up for the final run Best Move stepped up the pace Awesome Fighter who joined alongside travelled the better. The favourite Breezo finished second ahead of Super Sha.

Jockey Afsar Khan rode out Express It (Glory of Dancer-Argentina Express) to beat the start to finish attempt of the stable companion Dutch Hero, in the shadow of the winning post, in the Antequera Plate. Bullish Luck covered a lot of ground along the rails to finish third ahead of Scimitar.

Wynn (Placerville-Fair Always) moved on the extreme outside to win the higher division of the Thiruvanthapuram Plate beating Refuse To Bend. Just Great who led all the way till the last 100 m finished third. The rider of Refuse To Bend lodged and objection against the winner for taking his ground in the last 300 m. There was no substance in the objection and it was overruled in no time.
