Trainer Z Darashah receiving The Own Ordain Cup from Dr. R. Rajendra Prasad, Steward of MRC

Zareer Darashah trained Behram (Inner City-Faizah) bagged the Own Ordain Cup in the Stewards’ room after a lengthy deliberation into two objections that were lodged after the race. Scimitar had originally finished first, half a length ahead of Behram and a further neck behind was Bella Coola. S.John, the rider of Behram lodged an objection against I.A.Khan, the rider of Scimitar for tightening in the last 100 metres as a result of which he was squeezed along the rails. S.Shiva Kumar objected against both S.John and I.A.Khan for coming on to his mount thereby denying a clear passage.

The objection lodged by S.John did not hold ground and was overruled and the one by Shiva Kumar against John was also overruled but his objection against I.A.Khan was upheld and Scimitar was relegated to third spot.

Seven runners took the start in the race, with Mia Stella and Thriller being withdrawn on veterinary grounds. On entering the home stretch, Behram raced along the inner rails with Scimitar making headway on the outside and Bella Coola taking the path in-between the two. Approaching the final furlong, the three were in full flow running close to each other. In the last 100 metres Scimitar was found to be lugging in. Bella Coola in the centre found the space between the two runners getting narrowed down and was forced to check his assault. The Stewards rightly upheld the objection of Shiva Kumar against I.A Khan as it was Bella Coola who was hampered the most. Behram was the beneficiary in the bargain, shifting over to the winners’ enclosure while Bella Coola moved up one step upward.

Trainer S.Rakesh saddled a back to back double through Omega Man and Color Me. Both of them were ridden by apprentice Sarvan Kumar. Omega Man (Hymn-Maribella) managed to pull it off from Prost, in the Ellora Plate. The duo made headway simultaneously on the final straight and went past the leader White Warrior. Prost and Omega Man went stride for stride right through the last 200 metres and it was the latter that travelled the better in the closing stages to finish ahead.

Color Me (Brave Act-Color Me Red) scored an encore in the lower division of the Indi Plate. Color Me who was sent into the race as the firm favourite, moved forward to get to the front running Oblique on the home run and sped past to emerge victorious. Huckleberry Finn made a vain bid in the last 200 metres and finished second ahead of Infinithoughts that was full of running towards closing stages.

Trainer S.Santosh Rao sent winners in both the divisions of the Aperitivo Plate. Golden Tricks (Don Micheletto-Scholarship), ridden by V.R.Jagadeesh, lifted the lower division. Dutch Hero and Happiness cut the wind together till rounding the final bend and as they did, Happiness drifted out and travelled wide outside, close to the sand track. Happiness held forte despite the shift and Cationic and Refuse To Bend were finding it tuff to get the right momentum. Golden Tricks in the meanwhile was making steady headway and shot ahead in the last 50 metres to clinch the race.

Milagro (Glory Of Dancer-Princelene) won the higher division, which was the concluding race of the day, quite convincingly. Nishi Girl dictated terms till entering the last 400 metres and Milagro took charge from thereon to register a fine win. Nishi Girl held on to the second spot from the late finishing Nermai.

M.Bobby was another trainer who saddled a double on the day. Sauce Piquant (Hammerstein-Rhinefield Beauty) won the opening race, the Vesuvius Plate. Making headway quickly to lead the field within the first 100 metres, Sauce Piquant entered the home stretch three lengths in front and kicked on. Enforcer rallied on to be second in front of Sandalwood Star.

The 8 year old Luckynumberslevin (Ansbach-Nicole), who is at the fag end of his career, made a mighty dash from the rear, to snatch the race from Boston Ranger, in the Sriharikota Plate. Boston Ranger was well in front right through the last 400 metres with Truthandfaith making a desperate bid. Luckynumberslevin was in second last position with 400 metres left in the race and started to gallop widest of all. Sizzling past almost the entire field, Luckynumberslevin nailed Boston Ranger at the wire.

C.Girinath trained Prezzie (Juniper-Landrail) kept improving throughout and surged past Sun Device and Vertex 150 metres from to lift the higher division of the Indi Plate. Sun Device finished second while Time To Time warmed up late to take the third spot ahead of Vertex.
