Disheartening to Confront Petty Miscreants
By Indiarace Bureau | 18 Nov 2010 |
Who would think of destruction for no personal gain? Not a healthy mind for sure. If it is illiteracy, one can sympathise with and ignore an offender. However, for one who is computer savvy, illiteracy would not refer to curriculum, instead, it would refer to upbringing. Only a completely depraved person would go to the extent one hacker has gone to hamper the smooth running of one of the most popular public forums in the country -”Horse Talk” on our website, indiarace.com.
The recent attack on Horse Talk by the hacker was more sickening than harmful. There was no material loss in this malicious attack. Unfortunately, it was racing enthusiasts and the IRian fraternity who missed out on their routine posts and reading fun.
Thanks to our technical team, Horse Talk was quickly restored. However, one wonders as to what was the intent of this hacker? Did he want to showcase the fact that his tribe do exist? Was this his proclamation that “how can you be successful when I am not?” Or was this plain jealousy that tens of thousands of participants were having a good time on the most popular forum in Indian racing?
While it is disheartening to have to confront miscreants and petty crooks, we believe it is necessary that they be exposed and stamped out. An FIR has been lodged with the Cybercrime Cell to investigate the crime and we have been assured of swift and stringent action against this cyber crook.
The inconvenience caused to the brethren of Horse Talk is regretted. Such things should never occur. We have taken additional precautions to prevent such occurrences from happening in the future. However, taking a positive out of the incident we may have a very interesting story once the hacker is exposed.
