Bangalore-based champion jockey, Suraj Narredu was recently honoured with the ‘Young Achiever Award’ for the year 2010. This state-recognised award was instituted by the Brigade Group and Rotary Club of Bangalore Mid-Town in the year 2006 and is exclusively meant for the residents of the state of Karnataka. The purpose of this award is to appreciate and encourage the achievement of the younger generation from different areas of endeavour and also in recognition of the proven and demonstrable achievement of an individual or a team between the age group of 18 to 28 years.

Twenty-Five-year-old Suraj Narredu, hails from a family of renowned jockeys, Satish and Malesh Narredu. Both these jockeys have ridden well over the 1,000 figure mark in their career. He has also represented India at the International Jockey Challenge held during November 2009, at Mauritius. He won the Champion Jockey Award in the ‘Rising Star’ category during that convention, impressing one and all as he waved the Indian tricolour with pride.
