L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Vijay Monarch (Diffident-Post Impressionist) carried a back breaking weight to victory, in the R.C.T.C. Cup. P.S.Chouhan who is ruling over the track at Malakpet, rode a neat race on Vijay Monarch, to come out victorious in a smart timing, which was under a second slower than the course record.

Napoleon set a strong pace from the start and brought the field home well into the straight. Vijay Monarch was guided through the inner ground as the runners turned for home and he was quickly on the haunches of Napoleon. Moving alongside Napoleon inside the final furlong, Vijay Monarch surged forward to take it up. Jabel Queen was the one who flashed on late, covering plenty of ground from the rear but fell short by a ‘neck’ at the wire. Napoleon held on gamely to finish third ahead of Magic Million. Malabar Prince was planted at the gates when the others took off and took no part in the race.

Prasad Raju’s Grigori (Hymn-Steinby) gave an encore, puling off a win in the Rayalseema Cup, in an exciting finish involving four horses. Stable companion Cannon Ace was in the lead right through the home stretch with Grigori in chase. In the last 100 metres Grigori managed to collar the leader and surged ahead, to be three parts of a length in front at the finish. Drum Beat and Ziv got closer rapidly towards the closing stages and finished in a cluster with Cannon Ace to take the third and fourth places respectively.

Shehzad Abbas’s Our Mascot (Hurricane State-Integrate) won the lower division of the Chaitanya Chakram Plate, a five and a half furlongs dash for maiden 3 year olds. Taking charge 150 metres from home, Imran Khan drove home Our Mascot to victory. The favourite in the race Hidden Power looked to be on a ‘sight seeing’ trip all through the race and finally finished second. The authorities hauled up jockey Ch.K.Charry for the callous ride and came down heavily by suspending him for three years, for deliberately not letting the filly to run on merits.

Dazzling Prince (Hymn-Truffles) from the stables of Faisal Hassan, who had showed up on board in all his four runs, accelerated readily when asked for by jockey P.S.Chouhan and won the higher division impressively. On top of the straight it was Elenor who was in front,closely followed by Rise Of Emerald and Pacific Star while Dazzling Prince was getting into position around the three in front. Faisal’s ward quickened with a good turn of foot to push back Rise Of Emerald to the second spot.

Deshmukh’s Silver Lid (Oath-Sea Gypsy) who had found one better in its previous two runs, was hard ridden by P.S.Chouhan, to score successfully in the Red Rufus Plate. Kohinoor Fighter surged ahead in the last 200 m and tried to wrap it up but succumbed to the onslaught of Silver Lid and finished second in front of the favourite Shades Of Victory who made a late bid.

Shehzad saddled his second winner of the day through Tico Tico (Greensmith-Romanza), in the lower division of the Armagnac Plate. A consistent performer this season, Tico Tico was backed to the exclusion of the other runners and the 5 year old assumed command approaching the distance marker and justified the favouritism. True Star ended up second ahead of Merry Maid and Pluto Queen.

Apprentice Kuldeep Singh rode Faiyaz Shaikh’s Art Connoisseur (Ontario-Zeta Jones) to an upset win in the higher division, the opening race of the day. The favourite Fine Racer made a vain bid towards the closing stages to finish second.

D.Netto’s Chal Bhai Chal (Greensmith-Racing Dream) won effortlessly in the higher division of the Columbia Plate. Metaforce came in first on the home stretch, with a lead of almost four lengths. Chal Bhai Chal started to bridge that gap with the rider Imran Khan making use of only his hands and heels and moved ahead to win effortlessly.

Anupam Sharma’s Young Sapper (China Visit-Run For The Crown) ended the day with a fluent win in the lower division of the Columbia Plate. Chesapeake got up late to snatch the second place from Illustrator. Among the professionals, P.S.Chouhan scored a treble while Imran Khan, Deshmukh and Shehzad Abbas finished with a double each.
