S.A.Shehzad Abbas trained Aloisia (Gaswar-Titanium) lifted the M.L.N.Reddy Memorial Cup, the feature event at Hyderabad, on Monday. Enchantment led the field till entering the straight for the final run, while Alosia travelled at the tail. Golden Queen hurried to take over, on top of the straight while Vijay Monarch and Aloisia started their assault inside the last 300 metres. Aloisia moved the better and with a strong effort from apprentice P.Sai Kumar, got to beat Gloden Queen on the last stride. Jabel Queen and Vijay Monarch took the third and fourth spots respectively, in a close finish.

It was a ‘Magic Monday’ for trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju, sending home four winners, to add spice to the keen fight that is underway for the trainers’ championship. Elegant Approach, Arabian Dancer, Flashy Conquest and Grigori were the victors from the stable and all of them were ridden by Suraj Narredu. L.V.R.Deshmukh added two wins to his tally, to stay in front by one point and the race for the top spot will be the talk of the day, on the final day’s races on Wednesday. Leo D’Silva and Imran Chisty combined to pull off a double.  It will be a close contest between Deshmukh, Prasad Raju and Anupam Sharma for the honours in the trainer’s category.

Elegant Approach (Hurricane State-Annakita) went start to finish, over the five and a half furlongs dash and stretched out to emerge decisively in front. Marquise got the better of Ocean Side for the runner-up berth.

Flashy Conquest (Duja-Quiet Fancy) let Buck Knife set the pace and settled along the inner rails close behind, in the higher division of the Silver Academy Plate. As the field turned for home, Suraj guided Flashy Conquest along the inner ground and the 5 year old mare carried the top weight to a facile victory. Geography warmed up late to finish second, ahead of Royal Turn and Lioness Heart.

Arabian Dancer (Brave Act-Coco Beach) lifted the higher division of the Charon Plate. Racing in about fourth position, behind Rich And Famous, Lone Ranger and Caladium, as the horses got busy inside the last 400 metres, Arabian Dancer responded well to Suraj’s couple of hard backhanders and quickened instantly to draw away from them. Fearless Mission and Caladium ended up second and third respectively in a close finish.

Prasad and Suraj combination signed off the day in style, with a classy win on Grigori (Hymn-Steinby), in the Silver Academy Plate, the last race of the day. Grigori, who had won his previous two starts with apprentice P.Sai Kumar, completed a hat-trick. Sun Bird was prominently in front, well into the final straight and Suraj had some work to do on Grigori, to get him into galloping mood. Once he did, Grigori surged ahead of Sun Bird, inside the last 100 metres.

Deshmukh and the retained jockey of the stable, P.S.Chouhan picked up a back to back double on Vijayshourya and Ring Of Fire. Vijayshourya (Trade Fair-Troppa Freska) made every post a winning one, over the 2400 metres trip, in the Shri Narsing Raj Memorial Cup. Vijays Dhara after tracking the leader from the half way stage, made a strong bid inside the final furlong but Chouhan kept Vijayshourya going, to win by a length.

Ring Of Fire (Danehill Star-Arikana), on a debut, showed plenty of speed towards the last 100 metres to win the lower division of the Prince Khartoum Plate. Elenor was up in front right from the start but could not match the strides of Ring Of Fire and surrendered the lead.

Trainer L.D.Silva and jockey Imran Chisty pulled off a double together, through Sun Ray and Sun Strikes. Sun Ray (Placerville-Houston Hopeful) clinched the opener, the Republic Plate, in a thrilling three way finish. Royal Cruise had surged ahead 100 metres from home and Sun Ray along with Nano Tribute closing up fast.

The three went past the winning post together and Sun Ray, who had remained a maiden even after seventeen runs, edged out the other two. Nano Tribute took the second spot, ahead of Royal Cruise. There was a mishap towards the rear of the field on top of the straight where four
riders were dislodged.

Sun Strikes (Itequere Power-Waggama) made her way through the field and quickened well inside the last 150 metres to lift the lower division of the Charon Plate.Corvette managed to edge out Daniella for the runner-up berth.
