Ganga Jal rose to occasion, while powering away for a clear cut success in the upper division of the Indian Army Cup, the main event of the Delhi races held on Tuesday. Apprentice jockey Dhanu Singh Deora, who guided the victor, and trainer Ajay Sharma hogged the limelight by earning thier career's first brace each. Saddler Bharat T Singh was other pro to boot home a double. After having had gone down narrowly over seven furlongs in the last two outings, the eight year-old mare Ganga Jal had her task cut with a furlong less to travel.

The daughter of Bee's Prospector and Fur Elise was tucked-in behind Splendid Man and Ashwa safari till the top of the home stretch. Wearing Splendid Man down inch by inch, she blew past the former, who settled with the runner-up slot, near the distance post. Ashwa Safari ran on to be third ahead of Doon Boy. However, the impressive runner was The Dukes, who finished fifth.

The lower division of the Cup witnessed a nail biting finish between the Ajay Sharma-trained Zabardast and Trusted Man. The bay horse of Young Senor and Primo Dona took up charge from the top weighted Red Rose after entering into the home straight. However, the latter never allowed the former to run freely and soon the duo was joined by the chestnut colt Trusted Man. The diminutive colt by Gaswar out of In vogue tried hard to turn the table but the winning post came to the rescue for Zabardast. He should make amends. The run of the top weighted Red Rose, who was ridden out against the nature with disadvantageous handicap, is best ignored. Skyros, who ran fourth, is knocking at the door.

The commencement of the day's programmed was delayed by almost over 15 minutes as six horses had rushed out of the first panel of starting gates. The youngsters - Classy Touch, Master Sensation, Golden Pride, Honey's Spirit, Kesar and Seven Eight Six, completed the course without their respective jockeys. Only two trainers gave their consent for letting Golden Pride and Honey spirit to re-run in the Rajputana Rifles Plate. In the reduced field of ten horses, the Ishwar Singh Parmar-saddled Miss Marine taught a lesson to the favourite Crusoe.

Taking an advantage of scale in favour, Syed Hassan Abbas's Chandelier earned his due corn bill in the Prithvi Missile Plate. Running over the pat distance of mile, the eight-year-old gelding improved quickly from the fourth position to lead the way from the 400m marker. Fuel played the role of bridesmaid. The public fancied Steel Force struggled before pipping She is Beautiful, who should be noted over 1,000m, for the third spot.

Ajay's Dazzle met with success by making every post a winning one in the senior division of the Southern Command plate. Sunrise, who finished fourth behind King Cha Cha and Ashwa sakira, has come to hands. In the lower division of the plate, Bharat T Singh-schooled Taraka Power (Dhanu atop) routed the opposition in wire to wire attempt. The colt of Itaquere Power and Clarion Lakeside should repeat.

Roopendra Singh shekhawat's Ashwa Panama, just managed to hold Game of Talent and Royal Crown, who bled through the nostrils for the second time this season, off in a three way finish. Movie Queen bears watching.
