R.H.Sequeira trained Proof (Burden of Proof-Florale) proved his mettle by romping home in the Prince Mouzam Jah Bahadur Memorial Cup, the feature event of the concluding race day of Winter Season, at Hyderabad. This was Proof’s fourth win on the trot. In fact the 4 year old son of Burden of Proof has five wins to his credit from six runs and the only time he failed to make the mark was when he finished second to Super Duper in the HDIL Juvenile Million.

After jumping out smartly, Proof let Napoleon cut the pace, after the latter showed eagerness within the first furlong of the seven furlongs trip. Kings Cruise also moved up to run second while Proof was ettledbeautifully in third. Approaching the home stretch, jockey P.S.Chouhan guided Proof for the final run and the gelding literarily cruised to beat his dozen rivals in a convincing fashion. Napoleon held on to finish second ahead of Carte Blanche and Arrow In Auto Mode, all three finishing together.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju pulled off a double through Melody Queen and Strides of Glory but that effort was not enough for him to top the table. L.V.R.Deshmukh had ‘Winning Tactics’ with him to claim the honours among the training fraternity. P.S.Chouhan was a clear winner among the jockeys.

Both the winners of Prasad Raju were ridden by Suraj Narredu. Melody Queen (Hymn-Juke Box) scored and encore by winning the Circar Cup. Stable companion Celtic Rose was up in front from the start and refused to budge out from there till the last 50 metres. Blazing Asian and Melody Queen started to challenge and the strong handling of Suraj enabled the ‘Queen’ to surge ahead. The Leader and Golden Palace unleashed a late run to take the second and third positions respectively, pushing back Blazing Asian.

The 3 year old Strides of Glory (Burden Of Proof-Saddle Star) kept her record clean, winning for the third time from as many runs, in the Hot Chocolate Plate. Odalis took the runner-up berth after leading till beaten.

Winning Tactics (Ace-Native Tactics) justified the cramped odds that were offered on her by pulling off a maiden win in the lower division of the Super Brave Plate. The filly moved in effortlessly to take charge from the front running Ground Crew on entering the straight and pulled away for a run away victory. Allendale finished second, many lengths ahead of Ground Crew.

Donald Netto trained Always Bullish (Storm Trooper-Blue Sonata) picked up his maiden victory in the lower division, the last race of the day. Tintinnabulation and Always Bullish broke away from the rest of the runners as they got busy on top of the straight and the two matched strides till the last 100 metres from where the latter surged ahead to emerge as the winner.

Sk.Kassam trained Confidential (Black Cash-Serious Trouble) was ridden to a popular victory by B.Dileep, in the Eagle Eye Plate. Making headway inside the last furlong, Confidential took charge 100 metres from home and won comfortably. Ann Arbor rallied on to take the second spot ahead of Geography.

K.Satheesh’s Handsome Hunk (Juniper-Knowle Park) upset the apple cart of the race favourite Vijay Kiran, in the higher division of the Pelican Plate. The two got down to fight inside the last 300 metres and Handsome Hunk despite hanging in managed to get the better by an neck at the wire. The rest finished on many lengths behind.

R.H.Seqeira’s Hero’s Choice (Gaswar-Heros Best) moved with a late burst of speed to wrap up the lower division. Robust, Garibaldi and Naughty Gal filled the frame.

J.Silvester trained Ace Star (Hymn-Merryl) opened the day with her second successive win, in the Gold Soverign Plate. Jumping out well at start, Ace Star held an advantage three off the fence and led till the finish. Enrapture rallied on to be second.
