Master Champion Does Class Act In Style

By Parjanya | 27 Mar 2012 | DELHI

Running in the open class for the first time was the key for Ishwar's Master Champion to return to the winning ways after three debacle. He scorched the turf to lift the senior division of the Chief Secretary Cup which was the feature event of the Delhi races on Tuesday. With this victory, Ishwar Singh Parmar has now got a point lead over trainer Magan Singh for the title. Saddler Rajinder and his nephew apprentice jockey Sandeep Rajput shared a brace each.

The three-year-old colt was contesting to five furlongs after being beaten fourth by Slip Away in the Sports Lifestyle Million held a couple of week ago. After travelling third in the early furlong, he swung into action before negotiating the bend. Despite running through the stand side, he took only 0.58.91 seconds to cross the wire (a slower by decimal 28 seconds than the record holder Subh Shubh, who also hails from the same yard). He has now become the first youngster of the season to score in the open class. He should finish off the calendar by earning more wins in the top class events.  Kohinoor Beauty and Taraka's Power came from the mid pack to finish second and third respectively ahead of Mysterio. Rios Girl, who had posed herself as the main threat to Master Champion, had used up her stamina being very fractious in the paddock. Her finishing off the board performance is best ignored.

The lower division of the Cup saw Dazzling Wise dashing the hope of Narmada, who was on the verge of completing a hat-trick. The duo was of the flying start but it was Narmada who wrest the initiative till the final furlong. Dazzling Wise snatched the issue to score easily, but the jockey of the loser raised an objection for obstructing her way. The stewards turned down his plea. Fearless Tiger found the trip a little sharp before finishing close third. Master Arts, fourth, is knocking at the door.

Rajinder-saddled The Mafia found his winning shoes when he demolished the class two fields in the Shamnath Marg Plate. Hot And Classic and Red Cat, who faded out later, set fast pace till the top of the home stretch, but the pace, took its toll on the former as The Mafia snuck through the field to slam the door on Hot And Classic. Alabaster, who has been performing consistently, finished third ahead of Afea. The Rock came from the rear to finish impressive fifth.

Rajinder's Awesome got succeed in emerging victorious in the opening event, the Administration Plate. Dancing Babe, whose jockey lost his whip in the straight, finished good second ahead of Tez Raftar. H A Khan's charge Ashwa Parinda, who ran like a dud on Monday, stunned Graceful Bay in the last stride in the Cochin Plate. Meanwhile, Sangeet Charan-trained Trusted Man routed Neko in the concluding event, the colt has the stamina to even score over the mile.
