Master Messi Catches Ashwa Kundan Napping

-

Ashwa Kundan lost his touch in the last stride and just fell short in a bid for his first big title in the Northern India Cup, losing to Master Messi by a neck on Monday. For the first time this season, a card of six races was comprised of less than seven horses. None of the favorites were able to live upto expectations.

Ashwa Kundan had been performing consistently by finishing third in the Sohna Stud Million, Colts Trial Stakes and Sports Lifestyle Million. Going by the record, he looked all set to wrap the mile event after stepping forward from the top of the homestretch. Coming from the tail end position, Master Messi angled out between him and Four By Four near the distance post to catch him napping at the wire.

Ishwar's  Master Messi, who shed his maiden status in his seventh outing, should complete an encore. Ashwa Kundan has been eagerly looking for a win after his victorious debut. Four By Four ran impressive third ahead of Merlin, who did all the running till before finishing fourth,  should be followed up to the six furlongs.

S P Singh's Nizbati Queen returned to the winning block in the lower division of the Arcady Plate. For making every post a winning one, the daughter of Hammerstein and Queen of The World had to sweat out against the late galloping Rios Girl. Pretty Girl and Master Yunani, who finished third and fourth respectively, could have easily turned the table on the victor.
R S Shekhawat-saddled Elementto Trance, whose jockey was fined for allowing the gelding to drift out and making no efforts to improve his position, was double in the stride when he started eating ground inside the final furlong in the upper division of the Arcady plate. Global wind, who was in the start-to-finish mission before bowing down, was observed to have her blood vessel burst.

Bharat T Singh-trained She Is Beautiful emerged victorious in the senior division of the Arcady Plate. Absence of Daring Love, the favourite, and the advantage of bottom weight made her task easy when she broke out quickly to lead from the front. Fulminator, who was the runner-up, should taste a win before the conclusion of the season.

Aleem Khan's charge Enya registered an surprising victory in the Young Bess Plate, which was earmarked for the top class runner. Contesting against almost the same horses with whom he finished nowhere in the last outing, was in different shape. Running second behind Ode To Nature (fifth) with hardly 10mts left from the post, he suddenly launched an assault to hold the late challenge of Moongate Man off by a length. The public fancied Master Belief looked struggling for his foot hold before finishing close third ahead of Master Blaster, who was later pulled up lame.

Ajay Sharma's Zabardast tamed Amity by half-a-length in the Rose Prince Plate. The former should achive more success and the latter is expected to raise a winning gallop soon. The run of Rawsom, who led the group till the last part, is best ignored.
