Will the Bangalore Season Start on the 8th?

The take-off of the Bangalore Summer Season on May 8, 2008 looks doubtful. Due to scarcity of rain, the track is not receiving enough water, and horses, which are now working on the inner sand only, are not fully ready to race. In this situation, the major stables will be reluctant to enter their good quality horses even if the racing season starts on date. The Bangalore Turf Club was forced to close the outer sand track for ten weeks due to the construction of a boundary wall. The ongoing construction work of the boundary wall is causing a lot of pollution. At any point of time, you can see a haze of thick dirt particles hanging in the air. And because of that majority of the horses are getting respiratory problems. The BTC also doesn’t seem serious about the commencement of the season. The work is moving at snail’s pace. Take a walk along the side of the race track, and you’ll feel that the track is only about 70 per cent ready. That puts the timeline of May 8 into serious doubt. It won't be surprising, therefore, if the entire season’s card get pushed back by a week.
