Sparkling Gold completed an encore when she narrowly held off King Challenge to win the Indian Navy Cup, which was the main event at the Delhi races on Friday.

Aleem Khan was the lone professional to earn a double. With regular jockey Jai Prakash aboard for saddler Rajinder, Sparkling Gold was actually sent out to set a pace for the stablemate Awesome. But seeing the stable companion not figuring, she kept going on and dueled for the supremacy with another long shot, King Challenge, before necking the latter out. Awesome, who was kept in check most of the time in the fourth position, collared the duo late to finish only third. Jovial, who was close second till the final furlong, struggled to maintain the straight course due to drifting out Sparkling Gold and finished fourth.

Ishwar Singh Parmar-trained Master Chenna had it easy in the I N S Virat Plate. The dark bay colt by Hurricane Center and Amrita, who had run third to Secret Power on his debut, broke out quickly to retire home with plenty in saddle. The colt should also score over six furlongs. All Weather Gold made  a late surge to tame Major General, who drifted out alarmingly, for the runner up berth. Queen's Touch finished close fourth.

Aleem Khan's Aali Janab, who was prevented from running on merits in the last class IV outing and for which the jockey had to cough up, made merry of the class three field at the bottom weight. She made it every post a winning one. Movie Queen, who was sitting well on handicap, occupied the second spot ahead of the late galloper Kohinoor Beauty, who started off slowly.

Aleem's Narmada made amends in the Arjun Plate. After receiving a severe setback in the class three, she took on the class two fields at the bottom weight to take revenge on Dazzling wise. Alabaster, who was not much pressurized for the third position, should soon return to the winning block. Ashwa Panama, who ran fourth, is knocking at the door.

K Ali Khan's ward Cano Limon shed his maiden status at the age of four in the I N S Kulish Plate. The gelding, who was backed down heavily, was in chase of far superior till the top of the homestretch. Master Boom, Yakut, Northern Surprise, captain Confident, Far Superior and Indian Bride ran in close order.

H A Khan-trained Ashwa Parinda succeeded in the Admiral Plate, which was the concluding event of the day. Master Arts, who came from back of the pack, alerted to the task while turning for the home straight and failed shot by half-a length.
